What 3 words best describe your work?
Natural. Wild. Bold.
Tell us about your company name.
Wild Coast Flora is a name I came up with that to me, just felt like home. I consider growing up on the Wild Northern Coast of California an absolute gift and I guess this name is my little way of honoring that gift. I think one could find many meanings in the name, and they would all ring true to who I am and what I do.
Why should someone hire you?
I design each event based off the client's vision and dream for their event. All of my proposals are customized with each client's wants or needs in mind. I think taking the time to build a relationship with each client gives me insight into who they are and what they like, which is imperative when planning such an important and special day for someone. I work very closely with all of my clients to take their vision, bring it to reality, and exceed their wildest expectations.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
My love for nature and all things wild started at a very young age growing up on the Northern California Coast. My passion for design brought me to NYC where I studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. My love for the wild eventually drew me back to California and naturally, this all led me to floral design—where my love and my passion collided and have grown into an incredibly inspiring career path.
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
I credit my inspiration to my Father, who was a pioneer in the recycled/salvage wood industry. His ability to create something stunning from things that most people would have thrown away taught me the value of a different perspective. I also find inspiration in the seasonally changing colors, textures, plant life, and foliage surrounding me in my home in Marin County.
What makes a wedding memorable for you?
Many different things make a wedding memorable for me, but the thing that brings me the most joy is building these relationships with my clients and helping create, with my art, the most memorable day of their lives.
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
My best advice to a couple planning their wedding is to take a deep breath and have fun with it! We are here so you don't have to stress and you can just let your dreams run wild.
What's your favorite quote?
"I let go of what I am, so I can become what I can be." —Lao Tzu
What's your favorite marriage advice?
The best piece of marriage advice I was given on my wedding day was that "most problems can be solved over sitting down to a meal together."
Tell us about your pets, if you have any.
My boy, Linus Tombo, is a wild and crazy Lemon Beagle that I just can't get enough of.
