hand+heart is a San Francisco based wedding planning team creating custom, authentic, and personalized events for fun, adventurous, trend-setting couples.

Founder and Lead Stylist Kellyne says, "Our number one goal at hand+heart is to make the wedding planning process and wedding day as stress-free as possible, so you can immerse yourself in the festivities and enjoy your guests." Kellyne works one-on-one with each potential couple to create a wedding package that fits your needs best.

She says, "I take pride in my extensive hospitality background and am passionate about challenging the mundane wedding norms. I wholeheartedly believe in delicious food & drinks, jams that keep you on the dance floor (buh-bye cheesy wedding DJ), and curating the ultimate guest experience. I believe every wedding is a representation of you and your relationship and my goal is to create unique weddings that guests talk about for YEARS."

Prices and/or Package Info

Each package is custom built to fit your needs as a couple during the planning process. Pricing varies based on factors such as guest count, venue type, day of the week, scale of wedding services needed, and design.

hand+heart books full and partial planning packages 12-18+ months out and month-of wedding management 6-8 months out.

What 3 words best describe your work?

Adventurous, eclectic, non-traditional.

Tell us about your company name.

I originally started my business making handcrafted décor for weddings. Wooden signage, table numbers, DIY décor, etc. It was during the DIY, Pinterest CRAZE of 2014–15 and I loved making things with my hands and using materials that had a story and character. I originally wanted to name my company "With Love", because that's what I signed all my creations with. But, of course, it was taken. So I went back to the drawing board and thought... "I make things with my hands AND with my heart..." and BAM! That's how it all happened! ⁠

As my business evolved, I learned that I loved the planning aspect of weddings—seeing things from conception to execution and being there every step of the way has always been so exciting to me. I thought many times of changing the name to something that was more "planner" oriented and less "DIY" sounding. But, when I really sat down and thought about it, I realized that hand+heart is still so perfect. Everything going into a wedding has been touched by my "hand" – whether it's communicating with vendors, picking out linens, lighting candles, setting out place cards... my touch is literally on everything. And well, my heart. Yeah, that's given away at every single wedding. Hands down. ⁠

Why should someone hire you?

I care about every wedding as if it were my own. I get truly invested in my couples; we often become very close friends that stay in touch long after the wedding day. I advocate for their wants and needs, I recommend and hire professional and kick-butt vendors, and I go to all ends to make sure that their wedding feels like THEM and no other wedding anyone has ever been to before. I am an over-communicator and pride myself in my honesty and transparency. I love collaborating with couples and vendors and truly believe that teamwork makes the dreamwork.

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

I worked in restaurant management for years and loved the hospitality and guest service portion of it, but I was burnt out from the long, grueling hours and lack of creativity. I wanted to be surrounded by beautiful things and I wanted to create experiences for people that made them feel happy and loved. I realized that I was quite crafty and started scouring Pinterest for ideas for my friends' weddings and special events. After a few trusting friends gave me free rein on their weddings, I was hooked. The rest is history :)

What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?

My couples! I am truly inspired by each individual couple. I always ask couples to send me photos of things that inspire them—art, music, photos of their travels, home décor, landscaping, WHATEVER! So much of my inspiration comes from learning who my couples are and what makes their relationship unique.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:

To this day, one of my favorite weddings is the first one I ever did. The bride and groom met while in a band and both come from very musical families. The procession/recession was a live performance by the bride's cousins, the first dance was sung by her sisters, and the groom's cousins surprised him by singing "Hey Jude" for his mother/son dance. The whole day was so uniquely them and everything was touched by them and their families.

What makes a wedding memorable for you?

The little details! I love when there is meaning behind the details. Part of my job is to get to know the couple and figure out how to incorporate little details into their day without it being over the top or in-your-face cheesy. I love when people leave the wedding thinking "that was SO (insert couple's names)" but without being able to really put their finger on why!

What have weddings taught you?

That things will go wrong and it is always important to be flexible, patient, and easygoing. No one likes a stressed out wedding planner!

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

Remember what this day is really about: starting your life together and sharing your love with your closest family and friends. If things go wrong, which they will, bring yourself back to what really matters. Your marriage. Starting a life together. Sharing the love and celebrating your relationship.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?

To be in two (or three or four) places at once!

What are 3 words that describe your personality?

Laid-back, empathetic, detail-oriented.

What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.

What's your favorite quote?

Ohhhh there are wayyyy to many to choose from. I am a romantic at heart and LOVE quotes.

What's your favorite marriage advice?

Choose each other every single day. Marriage isn't easy. We grow, we change, life is hard. If you actively choose to love that person at the start of each day, you reaffirm your decision to spend your life with them.

Extracurricular activities:

Being in nature, finding the sun and the water wherever I can, spending time with my husband and son, trying new restaurants, and drinking delicious wine.

If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?

Probably something in restaurants. I love hospitality!

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?

A glass of wine with guilty pleasure TV.

Tell us about your pets, if you have any.

Monilla! She is our indoor-outdoor cat and spends more time with our neighbors than she does with us. She's a savage and bring us "gifts" (if you're a cat person, you know what this means), but such a social, friendly cat. Everyone in the neighborhood has a different name for her!

What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?
