Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review

Remember how much fun you had the first time you went to the zoo? Whether it was years ago or last month, the memories always linger. So it makes perfect sense that you'd want to share that feeling of joy with friends and family on one of the biggest days of your life—especially if you're welcomed as an "after hours VIP".

The Los Angeles Zoo—with over 130 acres, 1,400 animals, and 800 species of plants—is a top SoCal landmark attracting droves of locals and tourists alike. Naturally, the photogenic residents get plenty of press, but the zoo's dedicated staff believes your wedding deserves a lot of attention too. And with three unique venues in a fabulous setting, they'll turn your special evening at the zoo into a wildly successful affair.

Now, can we talk about the elephant in the room? Or, more precisely, that majestic, Asian pachyderm grazing just beyond the covered deck of the CAMBODIA PAVILION, where you and your guests are sipping cocktails. It's an unforgettable sight, especially against a backdrop of lush greenery and the Hollywood Hills. You can also have an intimate al fresco dinner here, or opt for the two-story STILT HOUSE.

The place itself evokes a rustic lodge on an exotic adventure, while the ceramic lily pads out front hint that you're in for a few aquatic treats. A wall of glass on the first floor features a fish tank filled with South American piranhas and a view of the rock-strewn stream outside. Up on the second floor, the space boasts a high, beamed ceiling and open-air sides—the better for watching the antics of river otters playing in the water. You can easily host both cocktails and dinner here for up to 50…or move to TREETOPS TERRACE, the zoo's largest reception venue.

Big, bright and airy, this pavilion feels like a geodesic dome with its soaring, asymmetrical ceiling, skylights, and windows. It's great for all the party animals on your list because the staff can bring in a stage, dance floor, and bar, as well as help with lighting, décor, setup, and choosing a menu from their in-house caterer, Taste of the Wild.

Book any of the three venues or feel free to combine them, because they're just steps away from each other (golf carts and trams are available as well). Plus, you'll want to seriously consider their not-to-be-missed add-ons, like animal encounters where zoo handlers bring exotic birds, reptiles, and other animals for you to experience up close and personal.
