Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review

Nature abounds at this premier Walnut Creek venue, known for its wonderful views. Sitting on acres of manicured greens, it's bordered by open space and ringed by an extensive network of rustic, ridgeline trails.

The Clubhouse at Boundary Oak, named for a particularly majestic and artfully gnarled 350-year-old tree on the grounds, is just moments from town yet feels worlds away. From its hilltop perch it offers a front-row seat to the location's expansive vistas.

Perhaps the best way to start off your momentous day in this city/country setting is to opt for an outdoor ceremony at one of two terrific sites. For peaceful panoramas that include the surrounding fairways, a towering stand of eucalyptus trees, and a glimpse of Concord in the distance, exchange vows at the newly renovated Lakeview Ceremony Site, set on a knoll beside the 9th-hole water feature and its impressive center fountain. If you prefer a more intimate alternative, get married on the Patio, which overlooks the putting green with the lake and fountain in the background.

You may be tempted to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and a glass of bubbly al fresco as well, but there are also several inviting spots inside the clubhouse. For example, the multilevel Mira Room adjoining the Patio has a long bar, wooden floors, and great sunset views. Then, when you're ready for dinner, just step through the arched entryway into the Vista Room. This architecturally interesting space is cantilevered above the walkway below with three walls of windows that angle outwards, making the outdoors feel like part of the room. A pyramid-style ceiling completes the whole "mid-century modernist" feel.

If, however, your dream reception (or the size of your guest list) calls for something larger, take a short stroll through the Main Entrance Foyer—which doubles as a gallery displaying works by local artists—and start your festivities in the Atrium. In this bright space, anchored by a large permanent bar and rows of slanted skylights running the length of the ceiling, friends and family can mingle over cocktails. At dinnertime, three sets of double doors open to reveal the beautifully decorated Celebration Ballroom, which easily hosts 250 for dinner and dancing.

Before the day is over, the couple may also want to have their photographer snap a picture of them standing beneath the spreading branches of the great oak. They'll have a classic photo that's not only representative of this lovely venue, but will provide a memorable addition to their wedding album.
