Down the long and winding road that leads through the tawny East Bay hills to where rivers gather to form the Sacramento Delta, you'll find a little Eden in the newly minted township of Discovery Bay. Set like an emerald at the heart of this gated community, the Discovery Bay Country Club offers a perfect slice of paradise at a highly affordable price.
Broad lawns, clouds of colorful flowers, and grand old pepper, willow, poplar, and ash trees greet guests as they approach the handsome clubhouse. Ceremonies and gatherings are often held on the exquisitely manicured front lawn, where a gentle slope provides a natural dais. Events held on the west patio enjoy a stunning view of Mt. Diablo. Serene and sophisticated, surrounded by shade trees and tickled by breezes and birdsong, the lawn, patio, and clubhouse are brilliant environments for any affair.
Inside the bisque-colored Mediterranean-style building, sunlight waterfalls through the skylights and down the tall white columns of the property's atrium-style lobby. Just ahead, the spacious lounge with its broad bar, floor-to-ceiling windows, and elegant baby grand Disklavier (it's like having a concert pianist on call!) offers gorgeous golf course views and comfortable seating. This is a spectacular place to greet guests or to entertain them with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The lounge also has its own stone patio screened by tall hedges and trees where partygoers can step into the sunshine. The facility's on-site coordinator and well-trained staff will ensure that everyone feels quite at home.
But the lawns, lobby, and lounge are merely an introduction. The welcome extends to the property's beautiful dining room. You won't need to bring anything into this glamorous setting, with its softly colored carpets and walls, classic furnishings, and breathtaking views of the rolling fairways and lakes. Multiple levels of indoor lighting, including chandeliers, spots, and recessed illumination in the handsomely coved ceiling will spotlight your event to perfection. Or you can shower your guests in sunlight on the outdoor veranda. Framed by the country club's verdant, meticulously-groomed gardens and greens, this is a picturesque place for a wedding ceremony or plein air gathering or reception. The north- and west-facing panorama takes in Mt. Diablo and rarely fades to black without an extravagant sunset and its finale of twinkling stars.
Two smaller dining rooms make excellent choices for more intimate events—for showers and pre- or post-wedding celebrations—and there is a Bridal Suite Meeting Room that can be reserved for the bride and her entourage. Also available off the lobby, down a wide hall, are the club's carpeted, spa-quality locker rooms equipped with personal lockers, showers, hair-dryers, and toiletries, all of which allow the bridal party to relax and enjoy in the midst of the wedding day whirl.
