Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review

Some couples aren’t content with merely having a wedding: They want to create a destination experience that spans an entire weekend. Something back-to-nature, yet with plenty of creature comforts…a private getaway where friends and family can reconnect over leisurely meals, wine tasting and shared activities. Sound like you? Then welcome to Campovida, a Mendocino Wine Country retreat and organic farm—just 25 minutes north of Healdsburg—where celebrations flourish amid laid-back luxury and country charm.

Perhaps Campovida’s most romantic setting is its 13 acres of enchanting gardens. Native grasses and succulents line the pathways, which meander among waves of lavender and blooming roses. Lush thickets part to reveal a graceful weeping willow here or a gnarled oak there. Around another turn you’ll find organic vegetable and herb gardens, and further on, fruit trees galore—pear and persimmon, fig and espaliered apple—whose springtime blossoms perfume the air. For candlelit rehearsal dinners and sunset wedding ceremonies, few can resist the Learning Arbor, a magnificent arcade where 12 varietals of fruiting grapevines interlace overhead in a leafy canopy.

If it’s possible, the Tuscan Gardens are even more spectacular. This soaring pavilion-style rotunda is entwined with wisteria vines, whose seasonal show of purple blooms literally cascades all around your cocktail hour or reception. A burbling fountain at the center enhances the Old World flair, and fairy lights, flickering votives and a panoply of stars ensure that gatherings here are nothing short of magical.

Other event sites include the vintage Hop Barn, a fun and original indoor dining option. The restored interior has the requisite rafters, plank wood floors and rustic details for an authentic barn wedding. Throw open the doors to the surrounding deck and party the night away! You can also stage festive get-togethers in nearby Hopland, the historic village where Campovida has two more venues: a casual pizzeria known for farm-to-table cuisine; and a neighboring pub, boasting patios, banquet rooms and local beer tasting.

Overnight stays at Campovida are a pleasure: The newlyweds may choose to snuggle up in the Honeymoon Cottage with its own patio and lawn. Nine additional guest rooms at the retreat are spread among a three-bedroom farmhouse and a barn-style lodge, while The Stock Farm (the inn upstairs from the taverna in the village) offers seven luxury suites. All the accommodations are done in a tasteful decorative style Campovida fittingly dubs “barnyard modern”—homey and uncluttered, with lots of handcrafted wood and natural textures. During the weekend, you and your loved ones can enjoy bicycling, bocce ball, swimming in the salt water pool, strolls among the vineyards, touring the farm’s beehives and, of course, wine tasting.

Family-owned and operated, Campovida is a personal statement of sustainability and warm hospitality. A dedicated site coordinator will be on hand to customize your event according to your own unique vision, making it even easier for you and your guests to relax, unplug and relate more intimately to nature and each other. This get-away-from-it-all vibe is a key ingredient to a truly meaningful Campovida experience.
