Questions and Answers
What 3 words describe your work?
Artistic, real, romantic.Tell us about your company name:
Our company name is Amy Wellenkamp Photographers—the plural "photographers" is because all of our wedding packages include at least two photographers, with myself (Amy) as the primary shooter. I've made this commitment because it is what is best for our couples. With two photographers, we capture more during the ceremony and are still able to be discreet. Also, we're able to be in two places at the same time: while I am working with the bride getting ready, the second professional photographer is able to work with the groom and the guys. Why should someone hire you?
Photographing weddings is not just something I do on the weekends; this is my full-time passion. From visiting the ceremony site for ideas, to attending rehearsals, and all of the plans and advice I give my couples. We have one chance to capture these memories and I have set up all of our planning, timelines and checklists to ensure we exceed your expectations so you can enjoy your day and not worry about the photos. Capturing your wedding is a very personal and intimate experience. It is my joy to take care of and become friends with the couples I get to work with. What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
Our tagline is "your day…your story…your style." This is where our inspiration comes from—our couples. After meeting and booking with Amy Wellenkamp Photographers, I ask pertinent questions before your engagement session and wedding day to learn about each of you as individuals and as a couple. Inspiration comes in lots of forms, from what you like to do together, how you met, where you spend your leisure time, your favorite colors, etc. Also, I will visit the wedding venue ahead of time to see where the sun will be and what fun architecture and natural elements can be used in your photos. What are 3 words that describe your personality?
Listener, silly, relaxed. What's your favorite marriage advice?
This is advice I received from the pastor who married my husband and I: to always be for each other's success. If we work on preferring our spouse and their needs, then we are their biggest cheerleader. That is love—not just an emotion, but an action of complete selflessness. This is truly how you become one. What is your favorite quote?
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." —Henry David ThoreauWhat is the best advice you give to a couple when planning their wedding?
Enjoy. At the end of the day what really matters is that you are married. Yes, there are lots of things you can do to make your wedding amazing and I appreciate that as it makes for beautiful pictures; however, if things don't turn out exactly as planned, focus on the moment and the commitment you are making to the love of your life and soak it all in. The pictures will reflect your joy. What have weddings taught you?
No matter how much you plan, things will still change. It has taught me how to adapt and roll with the situation and not be paralyzed by it, but use the challenges to be even more creative.About This Company
