Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review

Although Calamigos bills itself as a country ranch set amongst 130 acres of rolling hills, verdant meadows, lakes, ancient oaks, and its own vineyard, most of its event facilities are far from rustic.

There are four different ceremony options, each with its own reception site. The Redwood Room—the most historic venue on the property—opens to a peaceful and private area to exchange vows. Shaded by trees, guests are seated on either side of a stone aisle, facing a redwood arbor adorned with flowers where the couple says "I do". Afterwards, everyone moves into the Redwood Room itself, a delightful, sun-filled space thanks to light streaming in through "walls" of French doors. One of the room's remarkable features is its romantic "waterfall", a curtain of water that descends like a light rain just outside the glass doors.

The Oak Room is popular for intimate ceremonies. Rows of chairs are arranged in front of a wood arbor with a rock waterfall directly behind it, framed by a backdrop of eucalyptus, pine, and oak trees. Couples who get married here usually have their reception in the nearby dining room. Like the Redwood Room, it has French doors that maximize light and views of the outdoors. Crisp white table linens contrast nicely with the warm pine ceiling beams and doorframes, while ferns and ficus trees provide indoor greenery. Buffets are often served on the adjoining deck, which is partially shaded by oak branches.

A third option is the Pavilion at North Point, a secluded little meadow ringed by trees and natural landscaping. Couples tie the knot on an earthen terrace beneath a majestic spreading oak, or next to a clear pond at the base of a river rock waterfall. Dining and dancing takes place under an elegant white tent draped with sheer fabric and enhanced by twinkle lights.

Lastly, the Birchwood Room is a charming venue for more intimate gatherings. Ceremonies unfold on a grassy field bordered by roses, plum trees, and a large cascading waterfall. The reception can be held on the private, multilevel deck just steps away. Surrounded by nature—including a couple of streams—this spot is beautiful and calm. Sunset and evening events are lovely here, especially when the thousands of twinkle lights lacing the trees add their sparkle.

And if you've come to the ranch for one of their legendary western-style celebrations (yes, they host Barn Mitzvahs!), check out The Barn. It's the real thing: The floor is covered with sawdust, and bales of hay are scattered about.

The newest addition to the ranch is the Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club. This inviting getaway lets you extend your stay with 70 luxurious guest rooms that bring you closer to nature: Each one has its own terrace—some offer a mountain view and others are designed as enclosed interior spaces that are open to the sky and stars.

Calamigos Ranch has some truly unique event facilities, and the staff are topnotch professionals when it comes to helping you plan your wedding. They'll work with you to create a celebration that reflects your personal vision, and coordinate everything down to the last detail.
