The Terrace Room, with its beautiful Art Deco ballroom and panoramic views of Lake Merritt and the lush Oakland hills, is one of Oakland’s premier venues for weddings and other special occasions. Built in 1927 and recently renovated, The Terrace Room retains the feeling of a bygone era with details like the custom three-foot bronze pendant light fixtures and original wrought-iron elements. Although the plush carpeting is new, it’s Art Deco-inspired and perfectly complements the room, as do the elegant Chiavari chairs.

The wall of 20-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows that extends along the entire front of this grand space treats diners to a bird’s-eye view of the lake, Lakeside Park, and the distant hills. Throughout the day, the multilevel restaurant is bathed in natural light, while after the sun sets it has an intimate, almost cabaret feeling. And, of course, there’s that spectacular nighttime view of the lake with the Necklace of Lights reflecting off the dark surface of the water.

Other features you’ll appreciate include a herringbone-patterned walnut hardwood dance floor, a gleaming black grand piano, and a large mural on one wall depicting Lake Merritt as it appeared over 40 years ago.
