Why We Like This Place

Less than half an hour from San Francisco and minutes from the airport, this first-class hotel has recently undergone a spectacular, multimillion-dollar transformation. It's now more popular than ever for high-profile conventions and corporate functions, and brides in search of convenience and lots of options will find the red carpet is rolled out for weddings, too.

First impressions really count, and the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame wows you at the entrance with its soaring Atrium. Rising skyward more than nine stories, this architecturally intriguing space has all of its event and casual seating areas harmoniously arranged on a raised level in the center. Here, guests can relax and mingle in the cabanas or Sky Lounge, and check out the new 3SIXTY Bar, Bistro and Market while enjoying a 360-degree view of the entire Atrium, which is filled with natural light from the vast, skylight "ceiling" 110 feet above. A refreshing change from the typical hotel lobby, the Atrium is not only a great place to people-watch, it's also a unique spot for a cocktail reception.

If you're the kind of person who has as many friends in real life as you do on Facebook and you'd like to invite all of them to share your special day, then the Grand Peninsula Ballroom is for you. Start with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the open, airy Grand Foyer. At the appointed hour, four sets of double doors will be opened to reveal the recently updated ballroom. Cool and contemporary, with fabric-covered walls, a coffered ceiling, and a warm gray color scheme, it provides a sophisticated backdrop that will complement any occasion. Amazing "chandeliers" made of undulating glass, that look like works of art and change color at the touch of a button, are just part of the state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. You can add uplighting for an even more dramatic effect. If you'd like to get married at the hotel, part of the ballroom's 18,000 square feet may be sectioned off for a lovely ceremony site, complete with its own entrance.

Tucked away in another section of the lobby level is the Regency Ballroom and its adjoining foyer. Sleekly modern in design, it also features neutral décor and its own striking, color-controlled chandeliers.

For a celebration setting that's a bit less conventional, there's the tented Poolside Pavilion. Completely climate controlled, this "bride's favorite" is fronted by a graceful, wisteria-covered arbor and looks out to the shimmering pool.

The new Cypress and Sequoia rooms off the Atrium level provide additional options for events. Both spaces benefit from large windows that let in plenty of light, and if you're hosting cocktails in the Atrium, it's a smooth transition into the adjoining Sequoia Room for dinner and dancing.

The Hyatt offers a range of packages, and their catering team is happy to custom-tailor a menu for your event, as well as accommodate cultural or ethnic needs. Plus, if you take advantage of their flexible Personal Preference Dining option, your friends and family will be able to select their favorite entrée from among four choices. In addition to having a great time at your wedding, your out-of-town guests will appreciate all the hotel's amenities, including a fully renovated and expanded fitness center and pool, as well as 3SIXTY Bistro, Bar and Market, and free trolleys to area attractions.
