Manali’s strength lies in capturing candids. She makes people feel so comfortable that they almost forget there’s a camera in the room, and feel free to express who they truly are. Her images capture real, natural moments—not posed scenes.
She’s the triple threat of wedding photographers: A BFA in fine art photography, a friendly smile and familiarity that can make any couple feel comfortable, and a naturally keen eye for capturing everything from candid moments to crafty details. With over a decade of photography experience, she knows what works and what doesn’t—so when she releases the shutter, you can bet she’s caught the most authentic photo of that moment.
Her photos are vibrant, natural and a bit playful, and she is equally adept at capturing both the traditional portraits and the photojournalistic shots. A fellow event professional told us, “Manali’s work is extremely high quality and consistent. She understands timing and capturing the best of a person in a special moment.”
Manali offers both pre-designed packages and custom quotes based on your needs and budget. Contact her for more information. All wedding coverage includes an online gallery and a disc of the color corrected high-resolution images.
Questions and Answers
What 3 words best describe your work?
I like to keep things fun, natural and beautiful while I'm photographing.
Why should someone hire you?
I specialize in candids and photographing natural moments as they occur. I love those little moments, like when a couple shares a laugh, or when a bride has a special moment with her dad or mom. Your wedding day will create its own story and I want to capture it.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
I was actually drawn to becoming a wedding photographer after my own wedding. I was finishing up my college degree in fine art photography at the time, and the experience of getting my wedding photos back and reliving the day was so special to me that I decided I wanted to bring the same experience to others.
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?
My favorite photographers are great photojournalists such as Walker Evans, Diane Arbus and Josef Koudelka, to name a few.
What makes a wedding memorable for you?
I feel like I come home after every wedding buzzing with excitement and talking my husband's ear off about all my favorite moments. Obviously since I love my work so much I am thrilled after feeling like I got really great photos that captured special highlights of the wedding. It might be a great portrait session, or hilarious dancing photos, or beautiful moments during the ceremony, or all three, every wedding is different.
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
It's great to remind your bridal party to look up and smile while they are walking down the aisle since sometimes people forget. I have lots more advice though for getting great photos, just ask!
Tell us about your pets, if you have any.
My husband and I were given two cats named Lucy and Ricky, like the stars of I Love Lucy. It's hilarious because sometimes I feel like we are silly like them, and on top of it all, I have red hair and my husband is a Latin musician!
