Why We Like This Place

“The promise of Paradise fulfilled” is how one author describes Rancho Palos Verdes, a chic community nestled on a picturesque peninsula. In this coastal Eden, dream homes built on rugged bluffs enjoy panoramas of lush hillsides, crashing surf and spectacular sunsets. Grazing cattle and family farms once inhabited this beautiful 13-square-mile neighborhood, but in 1913 banker Frank Vanderlip began transforming it into a “fashionable and exclusive residential colony.” He envisioned an enclave in harmony with its natural surroundings, and during the few minutes it takes to drive through Rancho Palos Verdes, you realize how well Vanderlip succeeded.

One of the most striking sites belongs to Los Verdes Golf Club, a golf and banquet facility perched on the crest of a gentle slope. If you fantasize about a wedding with the ocean as your backdrop, but are daunted by sky-high prices and attitudes to match, then meet the friendly folks at Los Verdes—they call the regulars by name and welcome newcomers like they’re old chums. On-site banquet coordinators offer advice, such as design tips for the reception or the most romantic spots for memorable photographs. They’ll also match you up with the cream of the local vendors, who have not only worked together for years, but also know their way around Los Verdes—all of which ensures that your event will come off without a hitch.

And as for getting hitched…Los Verdes has a truly inspiring spot for a wedding ceremony. A private circular driveway leads to a pair of wrought-iron gates that open onto the Catalina Terrace, which is flanked by towering pines on one side and glass doors to the Vista Ballroom on the other. Overlooking the golf greens, the Terrace will seduce your guests with a sweeping view of rolling fairways dotted with blossoms and evergreens, and the azure Pacific beyond. In fact, Los Verdes Golf Club boasts an ocean view from every hole, and couples can wed right on the scenic 10th or 11th tee. At any of the ceremony sites, wedding guests are treated to a captivating scene, stretching from Malibu to Catalina Island, of tranquil ocean, soaring seabirds, and graceful sailboats.

Amidst all this beauty everyone will want to stay outdoors a little bit longer, so hors d’oeuvres can be set up under the shade of the Terrace’s awning. When it’s time for the reception, guests flow into the Vista Ballroom, where two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows keep that gorgeous view at hand. Adjoining the Vista is a smaller meeting space, which can be opened up for food stations, or sectioned off for restless kids and their toys.

If you’re planning a corporate golf tournament or theme party, consider taking over the entire country club. Whatever your celebration requires, Los Verdes delivers with fine cuisine, reasonable prices, and lovely surroundings.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Ceremony Terrace holds 175 seated guests. The 10th Tee holds 300+ guests. The 11th tee holds 100+ guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Vista Ballroom holds 350 seated or 500 standing guests.

MEETING CAPACITY: The Vista Ballroom holds 350 seated theater-style or 200 classroom-style.

Fees & Deposits

A nonrefundable deposit, which is applied to your food and beverage total, is required to reserve your date. The amount of the deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated event total. 50% is due 6 months prior, and 100% of the final estimated balance is due 10 days prior to the event date. Ceremony packages start at $1,500 and include a traditional or petal aisle runner and up to 200 chairs. Wedding reception packages range $52–118/person, and may include hors d’oeuvres, champagne toast, private bar, gourmet meal or buffet, wine with dinner, assorted pastries, chair covers, floor-length linens, fruit punch and wedding cake. Menus and packages may be customized to fit your needs and budget. Tax, alcohol and a 20% service charge are additional.

Year-round, daily, 7am–1am. Saturday weddings take place 10am–4pm or 6pm–midnight. Additional hours can be arranged.
