Why We Like This Place
The two things people ooh and aah the most about at Los Coyotes Country Club are the food and the facility’s good looks. The Executive Chef, along with his culinary team, has given this site a reputation for consistently gourmet-level meals. And the country club’s Mission-style architecture, with its tiled roofs, arched colonnades and beautiful massing atop a small hill, is a bragging point among regulars.
But there’s a third thing to tout here, and it may be just as important as the other two: the golf course itself. It’s probably best viewed from the grand flagstone-paved terrace along one side of the clubhouse. Here, you look out over a putting green and beyond toward three long verdant fairways, each separated from the others by lines of mature trees. And while you’re gazing off at those fairways—even though you know there are millions of people and all the trappings of modern civilization within a few miles of where you stand—you’d swear that the green earth goes on forever. The sense of being away from the Southland’s pressure-cooker environment is both palpable and soothing.
The terrace, part of which is sheltered under a shady archway, adjoins a spacious ballroom that has an 18-foot-high ceiling, plush carpeting, beautiful wall sconces and six-lamp chandeliers. The side of the ballroom that faces the terrace, as well as another side that looks out onto a small manmade lake, are lined with picture windows and French doors. You can ask to subdivide the room, although most wedding parties decide to reserve the entire space. They love this ballroom’s drama—it looks impressive (because of its height) and inviting (thanks to its big sun-loving windows) at the same time.
Los Coyotes’ lush setting inspires many outdoor weddings. There are two sites for ceremonies: The Tee Box, a grassy area bordered by 6-foot-tall hibiscus bushes, overlooks a picturesque fairway and can accommodate up to 350 people. The other option is the terrace, which can also comfortably hold up to 350. During those rare times when the weather is inclement, or for smaller parties seeking an indoor setting, the Cypress Palm Room, with its French door-framed view of the lake, is popular.
Not far from the ballroom and just steps down a hallway lined with fine chairs and small tables, the bride’s dressing room is a posh extension of Los Coyotes’ stylish décor. There’s an oversized oak-trimmed vanity mirror, a sink, a large closet, a wall mirror and soft carpeting.
Even the drive up to Los Coyotes has nice touches. The curving road sweeps through a well-landscaped neighborhood of large ranch-style houses, and its grassy median strip, lined with mature palms, evokes an almost resort-like feel. And the banquet room’s dramatic porte-cochère entrance only reinforces that feeling of refinement. Ah, if a day can unfold so nicely just getting to Los Coyotes, you can be confident it will continue that way long after you’ve arrived.
