Why We Like This Place

If we were to rate facilities on a scale from 1 to 10, the Fogarty Winery would be a 10! Located off Skyline Boulevard, this has to be one of the best places we’ve seen, not only for weddings, but for private parties and corporate functions, too.

Commanding an extraordinary panorama of the bay and Peninsula, the winery sits high on a ridge in a quiet vineyard setting. As you drive in, vineyards and a lovely pond come into view. At the top of the ridge is a large lawn, beautifully landscaped around the perimeter—a perfect spot for an outdoor ceremony.

Receptions and special events are held in the Hill House and/or the outdoor Pavilion. True to its name, the former steps down the hill, and is designed with incredible attention to detail, featuring a stone fireplace, fine woodwork, skylights, a wine bar and professional kitchen. From comfortable seating indoors, as well as from the semiglass-enclosed terrace, you can see for miles—past the neighboring vineyard all the way to the distant bay.

Adjacent to the Hill House is the Pavilion, a covered redwood deck suspended over the hillside. Calling it a “covered deck” may be something of an understatement: This 4,000-square-foot architectural treat is constructed of teal-painted columns and beams which support a peaked cedar roof inset with skylights. You have a 270-degree view of the surrounding oak-dotted hills and the Chardonnay vineyards below. The Pavilion is truly the perfect spot for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres or an open-air seated reception—no matter how hot the day is, there’s always a breeze blowing here. You can reserve the House or Pavilion individually or use them in combination—they’re connected by a deck, so there’s a wonderful flow between them.

For small private dinners, the Redwood Room is light and airy, arranged with custom-built “barrel” tables, handcrafted leather chairs, a wood-burning stove and full kitchen. Even the restroom is unique, with a blue-green slate and stone bathtub! And if you’d like to have a meeting in this glorious setting, hold it in the Board Room or the Hill House. A recent landscaping project has covered the hillside with ferns, manzanita and native plantings, not to mention tons of river rock. The improvements only add to the sense you get that the winery has been designed with taste and sophistication to blend in with its surroundings. We can’t recommend this facility highly enough.
