Why We Like This Place

The brilliant white, castle-like Claremont Hotel Club & Spa has been a Bay Area landmark since 1915 when it debuted. Spread over 22 acres, the hotel is set high in the Berkeley Hills and commands one of the best views in the Bay Area. Along with its panoramic vista, the hotel’s grand design, fragrant rose gardens and luxurious amenities have made it a perennial favorite, drawing admirers from around the globe. A long list of presidents, Hollywood stars and other famous guests have stayed here. Among them was architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who proclaimed the Claremont “one of the few hotels in the world with warmth, character and charm.” We tend to agree. After all, could the esteemed Mr. Wright be wrong?

The Claremont’s assets have also made it a sought-after locale for weddings. Couples can host their entire event here, from a rehearsal dinner at the Meritage at the Claremont to a sublime honeymoon in a grand suite. A variety of ballrooms—each one with its own distinctive ambiance—accommodate groups of every size, from an intimate gathering to a gala reception. In the Horizon Room, warm tones and vintage crystal chandeliers create a delicate, timeless elegance—and the panoramic view from the wall of west-facing windows encompasses both bridges and the San Francisco skyline. The adjacent Lanai Room is a lovely indoor ceremony space and comes complete with an outdoor balcony for great photo opportunities.

The Claremont also boasts a 20,000-square-foot fitness center, Pilates studio, and lap pool. You’ll definitely want to spend some time being pampered at Spa Claremont, which offers wedding packages that include facials, hairstyling, manicures, pedicures and makeup application, ensuring that you’ll be picture-perfect on your wedding day.

Planning your event here is stress-free, thanks to a team of wedding experts who will guide you through every decision and take care of all the details. And when you’re ready to wind down after the festivities, you’ll find an atmosphere of relaxation in the Claremont’s guest rooms. All feature plush bathrobes and slippers, cable TV, video-game consoles and high-speed internet access. Many also provide exceptional views of San Francisco Bay.

Conceived as an English estate, this historic hotel and grounds have surrounded guests with elegance, sophistication and charm for nearly a century. CEREMONY CAPACITY: Indoor spaces hold 20–300 seated; outdoor spaces up to 150 seated guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The largest ballroom accommodates 300 seated with dancing, 360 seated without, or 500 standing for a cocktail reception. Capacities for the 20 other rooms range 10–350 seated guests.

MEETING CAPACITY: There are 20 rooms that hold 20–400 seated theater-style, 30–275 classroom-style, or 8–60 conference-style.

Fees & Deposits

For special events and weddings, a nonrefundable deposit in the amount of 25% of the estimated event total is required to hold your date. Half of the total estimated bill is due 4 months prior to the event; the balance is due 14 days prior to the event.

Wedding packages are available starting at $130/person and include beer, wine and champagne reception, 2-course dinner served with dinner wines, champagne toast, wedding cake, chair covers, floor-length linens, tax and service charges. Any menu or package can be customized. There is a $2,500 rental fee for a ballroom or outdoor ceremony. Facilities are also available for a rehearsal dinner, day-after brunch or other wedding event. The hotel offers reduced pricing for overnight guest rooms.

Fees for business functions and meetings vary depending on room(s) and services selected. Corporate day meeting packages are available; call for specific pricing.
