Services
Pretty Please Bakeshop believes that two things are indispensable to a successful wedding cake: one, it must truly taste as fabulous as it looks, and two, it shouldn’t cost a small fortune! Baker Alison Okabayashi has a clean and classic aesthetic, yet is always on the cutting edge when coming up with new flavor combinations and innovative design techniques.
All of her cakes and cupcakes are baked fresh from scratch using all natural ingredients and never frozen. Tiered wedding cakes start at $7 per serving. Groom’s Cakes start at $300.

Questions and Answers
What 3 words describe your work? Chic, creative, tasty.
Tell us about your company name. Deciding on a name for the bakery was a bit of a process. I really wanted the name to not only make someone think of sweets, but also of cakes and desserts reminiscent of classic American treats and flavors that also look beautiful. I also wanted the name to be something that is familiar in some way to our customers. We played around a lot with very simple, straight forward phrases and once I thought of this one and once we began the branding process, I knew it was perfect. Our bakery focuses on delicious desserts for all occasions, from everyday to the big day. Our desserts are inspired by vintage American baking with a modernization that keeps things fresh but also makes us feel warm and cozy. I think our name fits perfectly.
Why should someone hire you? Not only are Pretty Please Bakeshop cakes stunning and tasty custom wedding cakes that capture the clients' vision of their celebration, but I believe good customer service is just as important. Whether it means baking custom samples, meeting for additional tastings, providing sketch after sketch, ordering flowers, or texting back and forth days before the wedding, I'll do whatever it takes to ensure that the clients are confident and excited about their cake!
What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work? Wayne Thiebaud, textiles, Martha Stewart, floral design, American baking.
What makes a wedding memorable for you? The most memorable weddings for me are those in which the vision really comes together. I often only get a glimpse of the reception design from meeting with clients, but when I arrive to deliver the cake, and the vision is actualized and every detail, including the cake, is just so perfect…that's when I step back and have a little moment where I'm so incredibly excited to be doing what I do.
What are 3 words that describe your personality? Motivation, perfectionism, laughter.
Extracurricular activities: Running, eating, traveling (which all happen to go really well with one another).
If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead? I spent 6 years working in and running an after-school program at an elementary school. If I wasn't running Pretty Please Bakeshop, I would most certainly be working in education and/or social work.
Tell us about your pets, if you have any. In my dreams, I have a dog... A Samoyed, to be more specific.
What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges? Maverick (San Francisco), Ippudo (NYC), Ad Hoc (Yountville).
