Our Love Affair with Kendra Scott’s Color Bar

by Jenna Miller, Creative Director

Recently three Guide Gals walked into a bar… No, not that kind of bar (not this time, anyway). It was Kendra Scott's Color Bar!

Have you heard of it? I hadn't, but loved the way the gals at Kendra Scott explained it to us. The concept came from a candy store: Kendra figured, "If you can pick out any color combination of candy that you'd like for your wedding, why can't you do the same with jewelry?"

And the Color Bar was born. Here, brides and bridesmaids can...

  1. Pick the type of jewelry they want (bracelets, earrings, necklaces, etc.)
  2. Select the style of the piece
  3. Pick the metal (silver, gold, rose gold, etc.)
  4. And choose from a huge array of colorful and sparkly stones.

Brides and bridal parties can go crazy with customization. It's like the mismatched bridesmaid dresses of jewelry. (And it's perfect if you want to ensure your bridesmaids will wear their pieces long after your wedding day!)

What's more, they're offering "Color Bar Parties"! Here's how it works:

You (the bride) can visit a local Kendra Scott and set a party date with their in-store Wedding Specialist. You'll fill out a quick questionnaire that asks for your wedding colors, wedding theme, hashtag, and other details that will help the Wedding Specialist determine the best match of jewelry for your wedding day (and personal style!).

On the day of your Color Bar Party, you bring your bridesmaids to the store. The Kendra Scott crew will put out sweet treats and mimosas for you to enjoy while you browse their Color Bar. They have huge interactive computer screens (as well as iPads), so each girl can design her own pieces (based on your wedding colors!) and preview what they'd look like.

Once you and your 'maids love your designs, the Wedding Specialist will put the custom beauties together for you. Right there, on the spot.

Loose gems, earrings, necklaces and pliers: ready to assemble the Color Bar jewelry

You and your bridesmaids will leave the store perfectly coordinated and full of mimosas. Is there anything better?

Denise, Stephanie, and I all left with our own custom Color Bar pieces, as well as a few other baubles (we couldn't resist!).

Happy customers with custom jewelry from Kendra Scott

We had a blast and were incredibly impressed—not just by the Color Bar, but also by the story of the company as a whole.

Kendra designed her first collection of jewelry in 2002—a project she tackled in the spare bedroom of her home with just $500 (all while taking care of her newborn son!). She started selling her jewelry door to door and showing it off to local retail shops.

Now, of course, Kendra Scott is a globally-loved brand. However, Kendra still has her hand in every aspect of the brand—bringing store managers together annually in Austin and doing regular store visits to make sure her company remains true to her vision and core values of family, fashion, and philanthropy.

SERIOUS girl crush on our part.

As a women-owned-and-operated company, Here Comes The Guide couldn't be more thrilled to get the word out about Kendra Scott and her nifty Color Bar.

I haven't taken my custom necklace off since the day I got it (really!), and I know you'll love your pieces just as much as I love mine.
