About This Company

“She has a wonderful eye for taking the photo at just the precise moment to produce a lovely, natural and meaningful shot. She has a great sense of humor and easy way about her that makes a wedding fun. We asked her to make our wedding pictures feel like a story and she made our photo album into a masterpiece.”

“I loved Toki’s sense of style–very avant–garde. Her photos are very well done, her composition is really classy as well as creative, and she seems to really sense people’s attitude and brings it out in film. She always goes the extra mile!”

“Reasons why I loved working with Toki: #1, she is very personable, easy to communicate with, yet very professional, and our guests loved her. #2, she is very creative–we love our candid shots. She captured things that Terry and I would have never seen without her talents for getting some priceless moments in print. #3, she presented our pictures to us in a wonderful coffee table book format, vs. the frilly white wedding album–we love it!”

“I will recommend her to everyone I know because of the wonderful person she is: she was able to custom-make a package for us that suited our needs and her prices felt very reasonable compared to what others were offering. She also makes a beautiful published book of the photos, which is unique to her—I don’t know of any other wedding photographers that do this. She is creative, professional, personable, and happy.”

Background

Toki Cavener studied fine art and photography in college and has continued to take workshops and classes ever since, including extended study in Italy.

Toki finds her wedding photography inspiration in fashion and interior design photography. She collaborates with couples to develop an understanding of the look and feel they want in their photos so that she can take an active role in making those shots happen. Toki choreographs moments so that couples get the photos they want, but this is definitely not an “Everyone, please stand in a line” traditional approach to wedding photography. She often works with props (such as bringing a vintage red velvet couch out into a field for a shoot) to enhance the scene, giving her photos a fine art air to them.

While her wedding photography is often more interactive than pure photojournalism, she works in that style as well. The Super Bowl XLII event planners hired her to spend weeks photographing both behind the scenes and on the field.

Services

Although these days most of her work is done digitally, Toki’s years of film experience enable her to use film whenever a particular look may call for it.

Toki offers a range of services but what sets her customizable packages apart from other photographers, is that each of her packages includes a coffee-table style printed book of her own design, in addition to a disk of digital images and any film negatives. Toki understands that many couples may miss out on putting albums together (for whatever reasons!), but that she especially did not want that to happen to any of her couples. After taking so much care to ensure her photos capture the flavor of the event, she loves to pull them together in a book equally reflective of the couple’s taste. Toki’s packages may also include engagement sessions and rehearsal dinner coverage.

“Thank You” cards are a popular choice with many of Toki’s couples. These customized photo cards are a great way to invite guests to view a couple’s online gallery.
