About This Company
Every Linda Goldsheft cake is a masterpiece of style, craftsmanship and taste. Her cakes have appeared in Wedding Style by Grace Ormonde, Elegant Bride, Town and Country, People Magazine, Ceremony Magazine and InStyle Magazine. Many of the cakes featured in Colin Cowie’s book, Colin Cowie Weddings, are Linda Goldsheft creations. Her fame has even crossed the Atlantic Ocean, where her cakes appeared in the British magazine Hello.
“She’s the best, bar none,” says wedding photographer Karen French. “She is fanatic about details, maybe the best in the industry. The cakes look like they’re made of porcelain.” Her trademark cake is draped in white chocolate or rolled fondant, making it appear as though it’s been wrapped in the most exquisite fabric. And her hand-crafted sugar paste flowers and hand-painted butterflies seem so natural, you’d swear they were real. What’s more, she can match the frosting to the fabric of the bride’s gown, including lace and beadwork designs.
But the proof is in the eating. “Linda’s cakes taste as wonderful as they look, and that’s really rare,” says one coordinator. “In my business, I’m faced with a lot of cakes, and hers are the only ones I eat.”
How does she consistently produce such extraordinary cakes? A winning combination of the very best ingredients, an extensive background in graphic design and incredible dedication. “Attention to detail is paramount, and every element has to be right,” says Linda. On those very rare occasions when a cake doesn’t come up to her expectations, she’s been known to throw it out and stay up at night baking a new one. She even brings her own carpenter’s level to the wedding site to make sure the cake table is perfectly level!
When you order a cake, it’s Linda herself who works with you to design it, not an assistant. She also executes it, refusing to fob off even the smallest detail. “My heart and soul are in every wedding cake I create,” she says, and she means it. That’s why she severely limits the number of cakes she’ll do each week, so she’ll be able to give her fullest attention to each one.
For Linda, planning the cake is a collaborative process between her and the bride, so she likes to meet with the bride six to nine months ahead of time to make sure the final result reflects the bride’s personality. Though she’s demanding on herself, she’s very accommodating and flexible when dealing with others. “And, unlike some true artists,” says one wedding consultant, “Linda is completely reliable. She’s never missed a wedding in twenty years, and she’s always on time.”
She’s also very responsive to special requests. For example, when rock star Don Henley got married, Linda created a wedding cake for him that was a reproduction of his mother’s Italian Cream cake. Among her other happy clients are such celebs as Kelsey Grammer, Blair Underwood, Jenny McCarthy, Holly Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard, as well as ordinary folks like you and me. Famous or unknown, Linda gives every client her very best.
