Background
“I am a storyteller,” relates Rosemarie Lion, “a recorder and collector of visual vignettes inspired by real people and real life.” Rosemarie’s wedding photography blends photojournalism, portraiture and art to capture the unique personalities and style of each celebration. She relishes the fact that Bay Area weddings are “a melding of world cultures, a fusion of lifestyle and fashion, and old traditions mixed with new.” Rosemarie’s photo chronicle of a traditional Persian wedding was featured in Diablo magazine, and she’s been published in a variety of newspapers, magazines and books. Though she has worked as both a photojournalist and commercial photographer, Rosemarie has a free-style approach that lets her draw inspiration from the smallest details and quietest moments. Her portraits reflect emotional spontaneity.
Rosemarie’s work is complemented by the alternative perspective of second photographer Gerard Lion. (The two—originally from Austria and France, respectively—met in a darkroom in a photography class in college.) While Rosemarie and Gerard each have their own distinct styles, both display plenty of personality in their work and they inspire each other to keep their photography fresh and authentic.

Services
Rosemarie Lion mainly shoots in digital because digital allows Rosemarie so much more control over the final look of the prints, but she does offer creative film options—and upon request captures emotionally resonant photos with her funky Holga “toy” film camera.
The engagement session is a wonderful time to develop the relaxed rapport you need to get great photos, so Rosemarie includes it in the standard package. Afterward, she creates a proof book, slide show, and digital/film negatives for you to keep. Additionally, Rosemarie Lion Photography offers customizable handcrafted silk & leather albums, image boxes & folios á la carte.
