Background
Laura Auyeung received her BA in architecture from UC Berkeley and started her first career amidst drafting boards and hard hats. After six years into working as an architectural designer, she decided to explore a new career as a floral designer. Beginning with formal floral design classes, Laura further gained her experience through apprenticing with distinguished floral designers in the Bay Area. Eventually she started her own floral design company—Poppy’s Petalworks.
Just as her career took an unconventional route, her exquisite floral style is far from ordinary. Her architectural training and experience jibes with her uncommonly creative combinations of colors and textures, excellent customer service, and great attention to details and budget. And, as one bride told us, “Her architecture background gives her the edge over other designers—it is a strong base for any design work. She offered great sketches of her ideas—that visual tool was very helpful to me in deciding what I wanted.”
