Background
Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, from Boston Berklee College of Music. Teacher of harmony, arranging and improvisation at Berklee College and SF State. Director of Jazz Studies at Cal State Hayward. Teaches ongoing workshops in jazz theory and improvisation. Authored textbook Jazzmaster Workout. Has played with Bobby McFerrin, Eddie Moore, Ed Kelly, Mark Isham, Gaylord Birch, and recorded with Jessica Williams, Eddie Henderson, Herb Pomeroy, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. On board of directors for Bay Area Loft Jazz, and SF Jazz Society. Publishes the Jam List. Owner of Nightbird Music for over 20 years.
