What are the common misconceptions about your services? That we are expensive. Quality costs, but we pride ourselves on giving excellent value for the dollar in both materials and service.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started? After years of teaching horticulture I wanted to turn my science into my art.
What are some of sources of inspiration or influences on your work? I love the architectural elegance and simplicity to the desert landscape, which is reflected in the structure, texture and muted colors of the desert flora.
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or most interesting moment at a wedding: A bride (her second wedding) showed me a swatch of her dress. It was a burnt orange. I didn’t get it until I saw her dressed. She looked as if she stepped out of a Goya Portrait!
Tell us about a wedding you worked on that really makes you proud: With only two days notice, I was able to take a wedding from an outdoor venue to a hotel ballroom and reinvent all the elements to resemble a formal French garden totally indoors.
What have weddings have taught you? To allow ample time for the unexpected.
What is the best advice you give to a couple when planning their wedding?
A) Spend the most money where you will spend the most time, i.e., the reception.
B) With destination locations, plan the wedding wardrobe for the climate. The more comfortable you feel the more relaxed you will be.
If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be? The ability to control the weather.
