About This Company

Debbie Jacobsen is one of those rare and lucky individuals who found her professional calling early in life. She worked at Flowers Etc. as a teenager, and fell in love with floral artistry. After eight years as a designer there, she’s developed quite a reputation—as a florist who creates visionary bouquets for weddings and special events.

The way Debbie runs Flowers Etc. shows a true appreciation for the botanical world. Not only does she utilize all the usual suspects—roses, lilies, and hydrangeas—she also prides herself on researching and studying out-of-the-ordinary flora. If a bride wants light pink dahlias, lily grass, and curly willow branches in an arrangement, that’s no problem. The same goes for cymbidium orchids or any bloom in an uncommon shade or texture. “When she’s let loose, her creative side shines through,” says a vendor who knows Debbie. “She’s artistic and innovative, and uses a great mixture of flowers in the bride’s colors.”

Her above-and-beyond approach extends to client satisfaction as well: for every bridal order, Debbie provides one complimentary sample centerpiece. Brides come into Flowers Etc. weeks ahead of the wedding to see a mock-up of the planned centerpiece. “If a customer wants a bit of added greenery or a few more hydrangea stems, we can change it on the spot to make it exactly how she envisioned it,” Debbie explains. This way, she knows precisely what to expect on the big day. “It’s just so much better so see the arrangements in person instead of on paper,” explains a bride.

Keeping clients happy means staying on top of what’s hot at the moment, and Debbie and her staff do this brilliantly. They comb fashion magazines for general trends in colors each season, and they constantly research up-and-coming floral designs within the industry. This makes for fresh combinations of say, mango calla lilies with sharp green hydrangeas, topped off with some orange milva roses. “Lately, we’ve done a lot of brighter bouquets that just pop,” Debbie says. “This makes a total contrast with the dress and you get the full effect of the flowers.”

Abundance, richness, and gorgeous hues characterize the floral mixtures made by Debbie and her crew at Flowers Etc. Full designs without much filler make the arrangements “even bigger” than most brides expect. Whether your taste runs to a tall and dramatic spray or a compact and dense gathering of blooms, Flowers Etc. can do it. “What I like about Debbie is that she comes through for people both artistically and professionally,” says a vendor who works with Flowers Etc. often. “Every bride I’ve sent to her is so pleased because she’s able to come up with something fabulous simply by listening to what the bride wants.”

Here are just some of the raves we heard about Flowers Etc.:

“Debbie is fantastic. She made the process very easy because she was very organized, very available, and was always ready to talk. My wedding was in Southern California Bride magazine, and the editor said that one of the main reasons my wedding was chosen was because of the flower arrangements.”

“She was perfect. I had some idea of what I wanted and what theme, and she had great ideas to go with it. She was quick throughout the process coming up with samples and she always had great suggestions. All my flowers were sharp and were the happiest flowers we’d ever seen!”

“She is very smart and she had great ideas for the wedding. She really seemed to care about us as if she was a long time friend to both of us. She listened to every idea we had. She wanted the arrangements to be something that we truly loved and she never forced her ideas on us. That was probably my favorite thing about her. She was a total sweetheart.”

“She writes everything down, listens to you, she remembers everything you said on the day of. Everyone has a different vision, and she makes sure she understands it and gets it.”

“Debbie Jacobsen was absolutely FABULOUS to work with for our wedding and I would highly recommend her and her business to anyone that I know who is looking for a florist for their wedding (not to mention anyone who has floral needs for something other than a wedding as well). From my initial consultation, to numerous phone calls and e-mails regarding details, to the wedding day itself, Debbie was there ever step of the way working with me to make our special day exactly how I had envisioned it. Debbie worked very hard to ensure that I was completely happy with everything, and she not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. Her ideas were creative, she was extremely professional and reliable, and she has a great eye and talent for floral beauty.”
