Certified By The Guide Reviews

“Our wedding photos are out of this world! We were absolutely blown away with our wedding album. It’s breathtaking. Lauren is not just a person who takes photographs, she is an artist who turns an ordinary picture into a memory.”

“Lauren captures the little things that you spend a year thinking about. Nobody else may notice that there is something special about the napkins, or your shoes, but she seems to pay attention to it without even telling her to. I appreciated her attention to detail paired with her low-key attitude.

“It was super easy when it came time to planning which prints and the design of the album. Lauren let me set the pace we wanted to move at. I give the actual pictures and final products a 10+.”

“Her presence made us calm; in fact, the 30 minutes that we spent with her alone after the ceremony was the most peaceful part of the day.”

“We were surprised that she was able to corral our diverse and eccentric guests without seeming bossy or disrespectful.”

“Lauren is fantastic. It was like having an artist document our day.”

“Half of the time I didn’t even know she was there! She didn’t get in the way (like some photographers are set up in the middle of the aisle or behind the minister and you can see them in the pictures!!).”

“We were able to edit the wedding album online, which made things very easy and user-friendly.”

About This Company

One admirer told us that Lauren Cohn-Frankel “is an artist who has fined-tuned her skills with a fantastic education.” Indeed, she has a BFA from the prestigious California College of the Arts. It turns out, though, that her love of photography began modestly enough with a class at summer camp. As a teenager growing up in New York City, she spent a lot of time photographing the city; later she spent time documenting the NYC music scene. After moving to the Bay Area in 1996 she shot her first wedding, and has been in love with weddings and wedding photography ever since.

Lauren uses her documentary skills in making beautiful images of her brides and grooms that remain true to their real selves. She explains that her “primary goal at each wedding is to be an unobtrusive storyteller, documenting both the major events of the day and the smaller, more private moments that put everything else into context.”

Her photography, which is both gorgeous and full of personality, has been recognized with numerous awards and has been seen in People magazine, The Knot, Today’s Bride, the San Francisco Chronicle—and even on HBO. Lauren documented the marriage of half a dozen same-sex couples during the East Bay Express’ Wedding Wednesdays event in 2008.

Lauren is an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) and the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). In 2008, the WPJA picked her as on of their Top 100 Wedding Photojournalists in the world.

Why don’t we allow reviews on our website?

We do, but we don’t do it the way some other websites do. We include some of the raves we heard from brides and fellow wedding professionals when we were checking out our Certified by The Guide wedding vendors on our website. (If we didn’t get great feedback, they wouldn’t be on our website.) We don’t just let anyone comment though, because we’ve seen other websites where phony reviews, which are so hard to ferret out, mislead people. All of the reviews we’ve posted, however, are real.
