Description
The Surf & Sand is renowned for both its prime location in Laguna Beach and its proximity to the ocean. The high-rise hotel sits so close to the water that it puts you quite literally—and hypnotically—right above the crashing surf. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the Mediterranean-style Conference Center, a separate event venue that adds to the Surf & Sand’s reputation as a place where you can have it all—a corporate gala, an executive meeting or a lovely wedding.
"Conference Center" doesn’t do justice to the banquet rooms—the Pelican, Sand Dollar and Sandpiper—which are decorated in a Mediterranean beach-luxe style that could grace the pages of Architectural Digest. Each one is a handsome and tasteful mix of blonde hardwoods, airy hues of sand and cream, coffered ceilings, lots of whitewashed wood-shuttered windows, neoclassical appointments and unique works of art.
Ceremonies at the Surf & Sand take place on the Catalina Terrace and on the Ocean Terrace, where you’ll have a breathtaking view of Catalina Island while the breaking waves resound just below your feet. After the wedding, guests head off to the largest reception space, the Pelican Room, which has a graceful foyer and a terrace with a view of the hotel and the ocean. Perfectly suited for mid-sized groups, the Sand Dollar Room is complemented by a series of archways forming a patio covered with vinery. And just outside the Sand Castle Room, you’ll find a babbling fountain and a peek of the ocean below.
After your event, stay a while longer, or better yet, have your honeymoon here. All of Surf & Sand’s luxurious accommodations have seaview balconies, most with commanding views of the Pacific Ocean. While there are plenty of nearby places to go sightseeing or shopping (Laguna Beach boutiques and galleries are within walking distance), you may just want to pamper yourself at the resort’s Aquaterra Spa or sink back in your poolside deck chair or beach chair on the sand and enjoy the sun’s warmth. With its seabreeze air, ocean and sunset vistas, the Surf & Sand is an exhilarating locale for any celebration.

Fees & Deposits
For weddings, a 25% nonrefundable deposit is required to book the site. 75% of the estimated event balance is payable 90 days prior to the wedding; full payment is due 3 days prior. The ceremony rental and setup fees vary seasonally $950–3,500. Seated luncheons run $42–50/person; dinners run $65–95/person. Beverages, tax and a 21% service charge are additional.
For business functions or meetings, nonrefundable deposits are as follows: $500 for groups of 25 guests or fewer, $750 for 26–50, $1,000 for 51–100 or $1,500 for groups over 100 guests. Food and beverage service is provided; the anticipated event total is payable prior to the function. Surf & Sand offers a full range of meeting and conference services; call for more specific information.
