Description
Located on the penthouse floor of the Knight Ridder Building in the heart of downtown San Jose, this private club offers a genteel ambiance, fine dining and sensational views. The overstuffed furnishings, coffered ceiling, marble floors and picture windows of the Capital Club’s lobby seem just right for a post-ceremony reception area. Its ivory, gold and navy blue color scheme is carried throughout the club, along with an abundance of ash-colored oak paneling and millwork. A grand piano and the adjacent Buena Vista cocktail bar also make the lobby a pleasant place to gather before moving on to one of the club’s dining rooms for a seated reception.
The formal main dining room features walls of windows, neoclassic chandeliers, hardwood tables and ivory upholstered chairs. On the south side of the room, doors open onto a wide terrace, where the Penthouse’s sweeping views of downtown San Jose and the Silicon Valley are impressive. If you’re hosting an intimate affair, you might want to celebrate in one of the Capital Club’s six private dining rooms; each comes with panoramic vistas, and all have private balconies.
If you’re planning a soirée, we can’t think of a more fitting location. At night, when the sun goes down and the sunset begins to fade, you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. A glittering carpet of twinkling lights spreads beneath you, creating a dramatic ambiance for a wedding reception or any type of special event.

Fees & Deposits
A $1,500 nonrefundable deposit is required to book the Club. Food and beverage service is provided; meals run $25–60/person. Half of the estimated catering total is due 90 days prior to event and the balance 96 hours prior. Alcohol, tax and a 22% service charge are additional, as are ceremony setup fees.
Availability
Year-round, daily, Monday 7am–7pm, Tuesday–Friday 7am–11pm, and Saturday 6pm–11pm. For events starting before 5pm on Saturday or anytime on Sunday, there’s a $1,000 facility opening fee. Closed most major holidays.
