Description
On a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean is a venue offering something unusual in this land of sand and surf—Southern hospitality, ambiance and cooking. The beef is dry-aged to tender perfection, the single-malt scotch top of the line, and the service gracious.Step into Savannah Steak & Chop House and you’ll find several Southern-flavored spaces available for rehearsal dinners and other celebrations. The main dining room, which may be reserved without a buyout, evokes the atmosphere of a Southern lodge. Antler chandeliers hang from an open-beamed ceiling. Horseshoe-shaped red leather booths are deep and cozy. Vases hold dramatic displays of cattails and sunflowers. While this setting may transport guests to another part of the country, windows overlooking the ocean provide a sense of place that is unmistakably Southern California.
The adjacent East Dining Room is smaller, cozier and more rustic in feel. Its brown leather chairs are high-backed and brass-tacked. A tapestry-upholstered banquette lines one wall, and a river-rock fireplace warms the space on a chilly day. This room is equipped to handle a slide show or video, should you want to entertain your guests with a bit of past history.
If you’re looking for an indoor dining space with an outdoor feel, you won’t do much better than the light-filled and airy Verandah Room. A curved wall of large windows faces the water, letting in a bit of ocean breeze. The crowning touch here is literally the ceiling, entirely covered in accordion-pleated fabric that fans out from the center. Strands of lights embedded in the fabric twinkle at night, enhancing the romantic mood created by candles flickering on tables and ledges.
Through a curtained door in the Verandah Room is an enclosed outdoor patio with a spectacular view of suburbia below and, on a clear day, the ocean beyond. This casual space works well for a rehearsal or engagement dinner and, when used in combination with the Verandah Room, it’s perfect for cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres or as a children’s dining area. The patio is especially lively at night: heat lamps add warmth, flames leap from the firepit and the hill below is ablaze with residential lights. After a meal, some guests like to stroll out here for a stogie and cognac around the firepit (the patio is cigar-friendly).
Preset menus lean toward classic and contemporary American and Southern cuisine, including new renditions of retro standards such as Veal Oscar, Shellfish Newburg, and Surf and Turf combinations. However, requests for customized dishes are welcome.
Keeping folks contented is a top priority for Savannah Steak House, and it’s something they do very well. After enjoying a large helping of Southern hospitality and hearty food, everyone leaves here happy.

Fees & Deposits
10% of the total event cost is required to reserve your date. A portion is due 90 days prior to the event. The balance is due at the conclusion of the event. There are no separate rental fees. Meals range $45–105/person. Tax, alcohol and a 21% service charge are additional.
