Description
High up on the top floor of Neiman Marcus, the Rotunda Restaurant is one of the more unusual event spaces we’ve come across. It’s crowned by a stunning glass dome, constructed of 2,600 pieces of white, soft rust and yellow glass. During the day, sunlight filters through it, casting a warm golden glow; at night it’s a striking focal point, backlit and rimmed with sparkling globe lights. Natural light also streams in through an expanse of floor-to-ceiling floating glass windows overlooking the fine hotels and chic stores of Union Square.
The room itself curves gracefully around a central atrium that descends four stories to the ground floor. (It’s interesting to note that the clever design of the building allows you to watch shoppers bustling about below, while you’re completely invisible to them.) Multilevel seating gives each booth a “box seat” quality: no matter where you sit you have an excellent view of the dome, the glass wall and all the festivities.
The Rotunda has a private entrance for special event guests, complete with an express elevator that whisks them straight up to the restaurant. This is particularly handy for any bride who wants to surprise her “audience” with a well-timed, sweeping entrance around the atrium.
While wedding receptions are frequently held at the Rotunda, some very colorful corporate and fundraising events have had their day here, too. There was a Caribbean Night with steel drums and costumed dancers (not to mention goldfish bowls on the bar), and a Showboat Night with guests gambling in 1890s period garb. Christmas parties are not to be missed: a four-story-high Christmas tree—decorated as only Neiman Marcus can do it—rises up through the restaurant! So when you want a truly exceptional event location, come to the Rotunda. They’ll take care of everything for you, so you’ll have extra time to—you guessed it!—go shopping.

Fees & Deposits
A $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your date. Catering is provided. Dinners are à la carte, with per-person costs starting at $26 for entrées and $4.50 each for hors d’oeuvre selections. Alcohol, a 20% service charge and tax are additional. For Neiman Marcus cardholders, note that you can make payment using your NM card to gain Incircle points.
