Description
Piatti’s earthy tones and rustic accents are as inviting as a sun-baked Tuscan village, but the restaurant has all the sleekness and convenience of 21st-century America. Located in the new Rivermark Plaza in Santa Clara, Piatti is in the thick of Silicon Valley, yet somehow manages to suggest it is transplanted from another, more romantic world.
An outdoor patio, replete with stone fire pit, benches and a fountain, flanks the restaurant on two sides. Closer inspection of the many potted plants reveals homey tomatoes and bell peppers ripening among the flowers. Small ceremonies can be held here in front of the tiered fountain, before adjourning to festivities inside the restaurant.
The interior is open and airy, with high ceilings and central skylights. Reclaimed-wood trim frames expansive burgundy and rust stucco walls, while huge windows welcome in light on two sides. The long bar at one end has a comfortable lounge area overlooking the patio, and the walls are hung with colorful oil paintings. A few choice Old World objects d’art—a small millstone, Tuscan wine jars—are reminders of Piatti’s Italian heritage. The combination of the rough wood and Mediterranean colors with ultra-modern lighting fixtures and uncluttered decor creates a happy marriage of the old and the new.
Even warmer and more intimate is the Medici Room, a private room for small receptions. Softly gleaming hardwood floors, large windows, and bright Wine Country prints give the space a rich, contemporary appearance. A fieldstone fireplace provides heat and flickering light on cool evenings. With its doors and louvered panels opened, this room becomes an extension of the Main Dining Room, creating an additional dining area for a larger event. If dancing is on your evening’s agenda, the center of the restaurant can be cleared, leaving ample space around the perimeter for dining, mixing and mingling.
It’s not surprising that Piatti’s serves Tuscan-style Italian food, but the chef will accommodate whatever cuisine you prefer. The staff is proud of the restaurant’s emphasis on local fresh produce, meats and fish, as well as their customized meals for buffet or seated dining.
The advantages of Piatti’s central location become evident when you realize it’s right next door to the brand-new Sierra Suites Hotel. Out-of towners won’t have to drive around in a strange city to find their way to the party, and Rivermark Plaza has enough nearby parking to eliminate the need for valet service.

Fees & Deposits
A credit card number is required to reserve your date; 50% of the estimated event total is charged one week prior to the event. The balance is due on or before the day of the event. Rental fees range $1–1,000 depending on the nature of the event. Meals range $18–50/person. Tax, alcohol, and a 20% service charge are additional.
