Description
Surrounded by ten acres of open space and situated next to a two-acre organic garden, Mudd’s Restaurant feels like it’s in the Wine Country, rather than simply a mile from I-680. Virginia Mudd, the restaurant’s founder and namesake, had a vision: she wanted to create a beautifully appointed restaurant in a bucolic setting. Luckily for us, she was most successful.
Stroll among the acres of organic flowers, herbs and fruit trees. Gaze up at the towering oaks, elms and bay trees, and explore the creek canyons below. While much attention has been paid to the grounds here, Mudd’s banquet facilities deserve their share of accolades too. The Fireside Room adjacent to the main restaurant is the larger of the two private event spaces. It features a beamed ceiling, split levels (including a dance floor) and a tall stone fireplace. Windows overlook the canyon and garden areas, and two sets of double French doors lead out onto a secluded deck, bordered by cobblestone paths and lush lawns. From here, the view of the garden seems endless, making the deck an ideal spot for your ceremony.
For larger Saturday weddings (over 70 guests), Mudd’s entire main restaurant may be reserved. Built in the shape of a Greek cross, its architecture is unique. Although the dining area is made up of three separate rooms, a head table placed in the center of the "cross" is visible from everywhere in the restaurant. The acoustics are also exceptional—even if the band is playing in one room, you can still have a normal conversation in another one. Maximum visual access to the outdoors is achieved through dozens of windows in all sorts of shapes and sizes, each one overlooking a garden tapestry of vivid colors and subtle shades of green. The interior design is as appealing as the landscaping: a harmonious blend of natural wood, subtle green carpeting and dusty rose tile is complemented by imported Danish teak seating and white cotton linens. Numerous French doors open to patios screened by overhead trellises, where you may dine al fresco.
If you’re planning a smaller reception, rehearsal dinner or meeting, host it in the Board Room. It has its own deck, and like Mudd’s other rooms, it has a view of the lovely surroundings—this time overlooking a native oak grove. And for those of you who worry about everything going smoothly, you can rest easy. The on-site wedding planner and the chef have almost two decades of experience at Mudd’s between them.

Fees & Deposits
A $500 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your date. Rental fees are as follows: $1,900 to reserve the entire restaurant, $1,200 for the Fireside Room or $550 for the Board Room. Luncheons range $20–35/person, dinners $30–45/person and wedding buffets $32–40/person; alcohol, tax and a 21% service charge are additional. For ceremonies, there’s a $3/chair setup fee.
Availability
The entire restaurant and grounds can be reserved only on Saturday, 10am–4pm. The Board Room and Fireside Room can be reserved anytime.
