Le Merigot Beach Hotel

Description

A flowering of upscale restaurants, chic shops, and ultra-lavish hotels is fast turning the casual beach community of Santa Monica into the California Riviera. Poised on the fringes of L.A.‘s urban center, this coastal paradise serves up the city’s energy and sophistication along with balmy breezes and spectacular sunsets.

One of the most dynamic offerings is Le Merigot, a luxurious venue with the progressive attitude of a modern boutique hotel. Le Merigot forgoes the anonymity of large, mass bookings in favor of personalized service to a select clientele. The event suites are elegant, the mood unhurried, and every detail of your wedding or corporate function is handled with efficiency, courtesy and grace.

Le Merigot takes its name from a city in Martinique, yet the contemporary decor is very cosmopolitan. Guests enter through the eye-catching Lobby. Words that come to mind as you survey the Lobby are polished—as in gleaming brass trim and granite floors, and plush—as in plenty of oversized chairs and sofas. Off to one side is the subdued mezzanine, fashioned in earth tones and exotic woods.

At Le Merigot, your personal comfort is taken very seriously. Resort-like amenities include a full-service spa that offers everything from Aromatherapy Massage to a Eucalyptus Steam Room; the business guest has access to state-of-the-art technology, including video-conferencing. Corporate clients who reserve the Director’s Boardroom appreciate the space’s clean lines, premium amenities like leather blotters and chairs, and optimally designed lighting suitable for both business and social activities. The hotel’s restaurant can also be reserved for special events. Hold your soireé in the Café Promenade overlooking the courtyard, pool, and ocean. A vibrant mural of the Cote d’Azur along one wall animates the Café with a delightful Mediterranean ambiance. For elegant luncheons, consider Cézanne, the hotel’s superb fine-dining restaurant. Here, luxuriant carpet in the artist’s signature blue matches the color of your ocean view from the adjacent terrace. The Cézanne also boasts a long curved bar, and the wall opposite is inlaid with exotic Indian alabaster that is illuminated at night.

The banquet "suites" (as event spaces are called at Le Merigot) are surprisingly commodious, given the boutique nature of the facility. Each suite features distinctive wall sconces, quality art work and unique topiary trees. One of the nicest suites is the Palisades, which glows with the rich luster of African Fiddleback Anagré woodwork and molding. Sliding wood doors, reminiscent of shoji screens, allow you to subtly partition the room. Another event option is the Pacific Suite, which has three distinct areas culminating in a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean.

Yes, you are just steps from the ocean at Le Merigot, and what better way to appreciate it than to hold your party outdoors in the tri-level Garden Court. A broad terrace on the Lobby level comes with a great view. A triple-tiered fountain flanks the stairway down to the second level, dotted with bistro tables and chairs. Feel free to meander down yet another fountained stairway to the swimming pool. This is California at its best, so go ahead and dangle your feet in the water and admire the palm trees lining the beach boardwalk a few yards away. Raise your champagne glass and toast your successful event, which, like everything else at Le Merigot, is first class.
