La Quinta Resort and Club

Description

Since its auspicious opening in 1926, La Quinta has reigned as queen of the desert resorts. A true oasis, its 45 verdant acres gleam like an emerald set in the midst of an arid circle of rocky, pink-hued mountains. With ever-present blue skies overhead, a luxurious sense of well-being seems to pervade the balmy air.

La Quinta’s early years coincided with Hollywood’s Golden Age, and the resort was the getaway of choice among the stars, particularly those with romantic inclinations. Greta Garbo, often quoted as "vanting to be alone," frequently stayed here with her paramour, fellow actor John Gilbert. Today, romance still flourishes in this little corner of paradise. Completely renovated and thoughtfully expanded, the 21st-century version of La Quinta Resort is a self-contained world bent on luxury, privacy and relaxation. Plush furnishings and accouterments enhance the resort’s original Spanish Revival design, whose tall ceilings, gorgeous tile work and rich wood accents retain their timeless elegance. Outside the lobby a central plaza reminiscent of a quaint Mediterranean village invites a stroll along bricked pathways, landscaped terraces and trickling fountains. The plaza is lined with boutiques, art galleries and eateries—you can even get your Starbucks fix on site! La Quinta’s world-class spa offers the nurturing benefits of indigenous desert products, and Yamaguchi Salon ensures you and your wedding party will be glamorously coiffed. More active souls may choose from among the resort’s 23 tennis courts, five championship golf courses, and 41 uncrowded pools. Guestrooms—consisting of the original adobe casitas, as well as suites and spa villas—are their own secluded hideaways, and some have fireplaces and private pools. With so much available here, you never have to leave the premises…

Which makes La Quinta Resort perfectly suited for destination wedding weekends! The varied assortment of celebratory venues means you can effortlessly go from rehearsal dinner to Mother’s Brunch, with each phase superbly coordinated by the staff. The resort’s most popular spot for ceremonies is the spectacular rock waterfall, a slice of tropical fantasy nestled in a copse of palms, roses and lush greenery. Guests look on from a sweep of lawn, while the rhythmic rush of water creates a refreshing accompaniment to your marriage vows. An adjoining lawn is easily transformed into an al fresco dining room, and a paved terrace invites guests to dance beneath the stars. Or, bring everyone into one of the many formal ballrooms, all sumptuously arrayed and boasting vaulted, open-beam ceilings with elaborate antique-style chandeliers.

More intimate gatherings retreat to La Casa, a private hacienda with a paved courtyard and a tiled fountain terrace, complete with an outdoor fireplace. Another option is the San Vicente Suite, which also opens to its own Fountain Courtyard. At both La Casa and the Suite, ferns and colorful flowers spill from terracotta pots and hanging planters, and brilliant bougainvillea twines over lattice and roof tiles in mounds of hot pink and green, like floral frosting on a wedding cake.

The resort’s catering professionals understand you’ll want your cuisine to be as superlative as your surroundings, so why not enhance their gourmet offerings with a Martini bar or selections from their VIP wine cellar? For those who can afford the best, there may be no better place in the desert to indulge than La Quinta Resort and Club.
