Description
Located in the quaint village of Glen Ellen, the Jack London Lodge is a perennial favorite for wine-country celebrations. Named for the famous writer who lived nearby until his death, the Lodge includes the historic 1905 brick building that houses the saloon, the adjoining Wolf House Restaurant, the Creekside Lawn and Patio where special events are held, and a 22-unit Lodge.
Couples getting married here have a number of choices. For more formal ceremonies, there are several churches just minutes away, including a historic church within walking distance from the Lodge. But many brides and grooms prefer to exchange vows outdoors on the Lodge’s Creekside Lawn, a lovely grass area that adjoins the Patio, pool and the treelined Sonoma Creek. The bride and groom can stand next to the creek with a tapestry of trees as a backdrop, or under a rose-covered arbor at the entrance to the Patio.
Wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and other special events are hosted on the Creekside Patio, which is shaded by the branches of towering trees and overlooks Sonoma Creek. With its bubbling stone fountain and outdoor serving bar, it’s an al fresco setting adaptable for all types of gatherings, from casual barbecues to candlelit suppers. Flowerbeds filled with perennials provide an abundance of color, eliminating the need for any additional decoration.
The Patio connects to the Saloon, which is also a great place for socializing. Your guests can wander in for a change of scene during or after your event. Its period décor, Jack London memorabilia, Tiffany lamps and antique oak bar will give them a taste of another era.
One reason the Jack London Lodge is so popular is that it’s one of the few facilities in the Wine Country where you can have your event and house many of your out-of-town guests. The Lodge’s 22 antique-filled guestrooms are set off in a secluded area which has a swimming pool and in-ground spa. A three-bedroom house just a couple of minutes from the Lodge is often used by brides as their own private dressing room and getaway. The Wolf House Restaurant caters all events, and if you’re lucky enough to be staying here a few days, you’ll be able to sample the flavorful, contemporary Wine Country cuisine, featuring the best of Sonoma’s local farms, orchards and ocean. The restaurant’s warm intimate ambiance, with honey-gold walls, maple hardwood floors and a rustic brick fireplace, makes dining here a cozy experience.
The garden setting, historic atmosphere and excellent food and lodging attract celebrants from all over the country. It’s an ideal location, just minutes from the City of Sonoma, Jack London State Park, wineries, golf, horseback riding, balloon rides and a long list of other activities. So if this Valley of the Moon facility is the right place for you, we suggest you reserve it as early as possible. Your family and friends will be extremely grateful.
