Holy Trinity Cultural Center

Description

Many couples are looking for a tranquil setting for their wedding reception, and at the Holy Trinity Cultural Center, you’ll have that and more. The entire reach of the curving Moraga hills will sweep into your reception hall, framed by a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows set in alternating arched and rectangular black-framed panels. Outside, you’ll also have a lawn surrounded by flowering shrubs (perhaps the right backdrop for your photos), a cement courtyard with a redwood arbor, highlighted by a beautiful Mediterranean-style water fountain (a good area for cocktails), and the sweet sounds of birdsong to accompany your guests’ conversation. The Cultural Center is located on an exceptionally quiet street, and only an occasional passing car will interrupt the quiet sounds of the natural world surrounding you.

The Center’s spacious interior is composed of two main rooms: the Fireside Room and the large main hall.

The Fireside Room, like the hall, has large plate-glass windows (in this case behind the full-length mahogany bar), framing the lawn and the oak- and pine-covered hills beyond. The wall opposite the bar is adorned with a brightly colored mural, created by a visiting Yugoslavian artist; a third wall is taken up with a slate-covered fireplace, which brings a warm glow to winter events.

After cocktails in the Fireside Room or on the patio, invite your guests into the main hall for dinner. If you wanted to, you’d have enough space to seat everyone at tables around the circumference of the hall, leaving room for dancing in the center; but more likely, you’ll take advantage of the built-in 1,000-square-foot hardwood dance floor at the far end of the room. Also available for rental are all of the china, silver, and glassware you’ll need to set your tables and make the room sparkle; follow the example of one couple who added ficus trees embedded with tiny white lights, and your reception will shine.

And one more advantage to the Holy Trinity Cultural Center—your caterer will thank you. The full commercial-style kitchen is stocked with everything from top-of-the-line cooking equipment to a commercial dishwasher, making cleanup a breeze, and there’s easy access to and from the kitchen and the bar, hall, and exterior of the building.
