Description
Built in 1928 as a summer home for a Peninsula socialite, Holman Ranch soon became an exclusive getaway for Hollywood celebrities (the room where Charlie Chaplin often stayed is now a mini-museum/dressing room for brides). In 1943 it was bought by the Holman family, who remodeled and enlarged the main residence, an architectural gem constructed of stone and oak from the property itself.
The main house and grounds, which are perfect for all types of events, are on top of a hill with a truly breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding Santa Lucia Mountains. Many a wedding has taken place on the vast lawn adjacent to the house, where couples tie the knot in front of a quaint redwood gazebo, with the tree-covered mountains behind them. Naturally the lawn is also an option for a garden reception, but three other sites have their own charms. The redwood deck, just off the lawn, is reached via a small bridge spanning a trout pond, and is protected from the sun by a spreading oak tree growing up through the decking. At the far end of the house the Rose Patio—named for the dozens of climbing rose bushes along its perimeter—as well as the Carriage House, can be set up for dining or dancing.
Keep in mind that the ranch has almost limitless possibilities for events. You can host a western-style barbecue with trail rides, a cow-milking contest and hobby horse relay, or a corporate retreat with a formal presentation and film in the Ranch Theatre followed by a picnic lunch. There’s a game room with pool table, pinball and board games, a barn and rodeo arena and even a childcare room. Remarkably, Holman Ranch manages to be elegant, sophisticated, rustic and casual all at the same time, so whether you set your tables with linens or black-and-white cowhide tablecloths, your party will fit in perfectly with the surroundings.

Fees & Deposits
For weddings, a $3,000 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date. A second non-refundable deposit totaling 50% of the site fee balance is due 6 months before the event. The final balance is due 5 days before the event. The site rental fee runs $7,000–9,000 depending on the time of day, week, year and hours of usage for event.
