Description
If you could bottle the human electricity that’s been generated at Foxfire over the past two decades, you might have enough energy to light a small city for several weeks. However, if you only need to light up your wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, this popular Anaheim hills dining and entertainment fixture can easily deliver. In contrast to the flaming torch atop its roof (which makes Foxfire a recognizable landmark off the 91 Freeway), the restaurant’s Victorian-style lobby is low-lit and graced with hardwood floors, wooden beams and early 20th century-era antiques. This cozy area leads to the restaurant’s ample banquet room, whose warm ambiance is more intimate than that found in the ballrooms of many hotels. Showcased by multiple chandeliers, formal forest green tied-back draperies and mirrors that add visual volume, the elegant space has a large wooden dance floor and can be sectioned to accommodate any size group.
For a small wedding reception or outdoor celebration, the restaurant’s trellised garden patio is a lovely setting for mingling as well as photography. Designed around an island of flowers inhabited by a school of clay ducks and a sparkling fountain where cherubs dance, it’s shielded by tall palms and outfitted with turquoise wrought-iron furniture. Chair backs in the shape of oversized seashells contribute to the “urban tropical” vibe. Heaters keep the patio warm on cool evenings, and clear plastic “walls” can be unfurled to protect you from the elements.
Just off the patio is the Sonoma Room, another option for a small reception or private rehearsal dinner. Golden faux-finished walls enhanced by hand-painted ivy vines, along with sage-hued window trim evoke the feeling of California’s early wine country haciendas.
Beside its appealing event areas, Foxfire is known for its upscale Continental cuisine. Although it bills itself as “An American Chophouse,” gourmet sit-down dinners, luncheons and buffets at Foxfire can be designed around such classic entrées as Salmon En Croute, Chicken Dijonnaise and Filet Mignon au Poivre. Called “the only restaurant in eastern Orange County worth a drive outside its vicinity” by a Los Angeles Times critic, it received a 2006–7 Gold Award of Merit from the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association, recognizing it for excellence in cuisine and service in the American category. You’ll recognize it for the first-class event you experience here.
