Description
Golf course clubhouses have always had a certain panache about them as wedding venues—their greenery, scenery and serenity promise a relaxing experience. The Club at McInnis Park delivers on that score, and its uncommonly flexible attitude and acclaimed cuisine make it extremely popular for all types of events.
First, it must be said that they love hosting weddings here. Unlike many facilities, McInnis Park welcomes professional event planners and will work closely with yours to make sure your celebration unfolds just the way you want it. But if you don’t have a coordinator, Club staff will help you with all the details, from selecting a band or DJ to executing an entire theme wedding. Special color linens, ice carvings and even customized menus can all be arranged.
Speaking of menus, the Club is noted for its food. According to the Marin Scope, "the chef clearly enjoys his work," and the kitchen turns out "tasty, unusual cuisine, friendly service in a low-key ambiance." Their basic wedding package includes hors d’oeuvres like Grilled Pancetta-Wrapped Prawns and Stuffed Mushrooms with Goat Cheese, along with main dishes such Filet Mignon with a Cabernet and Mushroom Sauce, Herb-Crusted Salmon Filet with Lemon Buerre Blanc, and eight variations on grilled chicken breast! There are so many choices, you’re bound to find a combination that works perfectly for you—and if not, then feel free to consult with the chef.
Four main reception venues, which can be rented separately or in any combination, give you plenty of party options. The banquet room, with its portable bar and dance floor, is directly accessible from The Club’s fully equipped second kitchen (giving you the exclusive attention of a separate cooking and serving staff). A brass-trimmed fireplace at one end has a simple, sophisticated look. At the other end, a door leads to Club 101, a smaller room with its own entrance that is often used for intimate events and meetings, or to entertain the children on your guest list.
People like The Club’s recurring color scheme of lavender, brick and turquoise, a palette that is carried onto the patio adjoining the banquet room. Wooden support columns and lintels are accented in brick and lavender, while rafters are painted white. Japanese maples and a bed of roses, as well as a line of planters frame the patio. Heaters and lights are available to give nature a hand, and drop-down curtains can divide the space. The view south takes in wetlands and woods, and you can see the East Bay’s hills. Although you don’t need to decorate the patio, creative brides have really transformed it: one wrapped the entire terrace in yards of white tulle, completely enclosing it; another turned it into a wedding "garden," with yellow and white linens and flowers.
If you’re partial to the restaurant, you may also reserve it for your festivities. A 30-foot-high skylit ceiling and a large, semicircular window floating above the bar add to the spacious feeling. A rotating art exhibit adorns the walls, but the focal point of room is a massive lavender column that happens to be the fireplace chimney—a delightful visual trick.
The Club’s management has hosted hundreds of weddings and prides itself on treating each one as a unique event. So put yourself in practiced hands, and enjoy the pleasures of friends and fine food in some very pleasant surroundings.
