Chambers Landing Restaurant and Bar

Description

Although it’s completely hidden from sight at the end of a narrow access road, Chambers Landing Restaurant & Bar still manages to be one of Tahoe’s favorite places. It’s set on a gentle rise at the edge of a lovely white-sand beach, and it has an enviable view of the lake and the cloud-skimmed mountains in the distance. The restaurant is actually a charming pavilion with a large sun-splashed terrace on one side and a smaller, awning-covered patio on the other. Connected to each by a set of folding French doors, the pavilion can be completely open to balmy breezes, or enclosed and heated if the weather turns cool. Its peaked wood-beamed ceiling has a large skylight at its center, and the massive support columns and fireplace are fashioned from river rock.

From the restaurant it’s just a short walk down to the landing itself, where couples usually like to get married (and often arrive or depart in one of the many wooden boats available for rent on the lake). Standing at the end of the pier, there’s nothing behind them except the vast blue lake and far-off mountains. Afterwards, everyone can mingle and sip champagne at the old boathouse on the landing. Built in 1867, this former post office, school house and general store now makes a delightful bar. A less dramatic ceremony option is a secluded lawn with gazebo next to the restaurant, where overhanging trees provide shade and filter the view.

Special events and receptions are most often held in the restaurant, and whether you’re dining inside the pavilion or at umbrella-shaded tables on the terrace, the lake is always a welcome accompaniment to the meal. For a completely al fresco affair, have your reception on the pool patio off to one side of the restaurant, or on a lawn off to the other.

Owner Graham Rock can handle all the arrangements, and if you’d like to prolong the celebration, a full range of nearby accommodations are available for overnight stays.

There’s no denying the irresistible appeal of this setting, and by scheduling only one event a day and giving you exclusive use of the entire facility, Graham encourages you to enjoy it as long and as fully as possible.
