Description
When we arrived at the Amada Plaza, we felt a bit like Dorothy gazing for the first time at the Emerald City: at the end of the silver slate promenade that stretched before us was a very futuristic building with a royal blue and brushed steel façade. Naturally, we couldn’t help wondering what lay behind its dark glass doors.
Well, what we found was an unusual and remarkable multipurpose facility that can accommodate conferences, parties and weddings—even high school proms for 800.
The Lounge, located just off the building’s lobby, is an ideal spot for apéritifs and swanky soirées. Plush royal purple sectionals, matching cocktail tables and an overhead mirrored ceiling dotted with marquee lights create a glamorous, black-tie atmosphere.
Wedding ceremonies take place in the Garden Atrium, the Amada’s most popular event space. This bi-level rectangular patio, enlivened by ferns, lilies-of-the-valley and trees, has as its centerpiece a terraced pond and waterfalls. Built with flat earth-tone bricks and polished blocks of black granite, the pond is inspired by the simplicity of Japanese water gardens. The bride makes her graceful entrance descending a garden pathway screened by a tall stand of living bamboo bordering the pond’s far side. As the bride walks the pond’s perimeter to meet her betrothed, the atrium’s retractable roof opens, filling the room with radiant light and a rustling wind. It is a moving, magical moment, enchanting every guest.
Receptions take place either on the Atrium’s slate-tile patio—whose upper level is a great platform for a band—or in the Banquet Room, a spare but elegant space whose black overhead beams, pearl white walls and subtle designer-gray carpet can be dressed up for any occasion.
For business functions, the Amada offers a theater-style auditorium and stage complete with cushioned seats and pullout desktops. Two VIP rooms overlooking the bamboo garden and pond are also available.
The Amada Plaza’s unique nontraditional and private ambiance has made it a favorite site for people of all cultures and ethnicities—Japanese, Filipino, Chinese, Thai, Indian, American and European alike have all celebrated here. What’s outstanding is that you can customize Amada’s wedding packages to an extraordinary degree. With over twenty years of event planning under their belts and an exceptional menu featuring Japanese and continental cuisine, the Amada Plaza staff will ensure that your affair will be both an aesthetic and gustatory sensation.
