Reviews

"They definitely had great service, in fact, my wife and I both agree they made the entire wedding by having a great schedule for each wedding event. First dance, introductions, etc. My wife and I had very little prior experience in weddings and zero in wedding planning. Tony and Jessica made it so easy and relived our anxiety."

"People had a blast, great dancing, music, and everything."

"The dance floor was packed and many of our guests commented that this was the best wedding they had ever experienced!"

"They made it super easy to stay in touch via email and calls. I felt like we picked up right where we left off every time we had a call, no matter how much time had passed."

"He definitely elevated the vibe of the evening to the level of class that we sought."

"He made me feel like I was speaking to a friend and I knew that was the kind of vendor that I would prefer to work with throughout the wedding planning process."

"They were incredibly flexible in customizing the music. I had a small do-not-play list so I’m very happy those didn’t get played (haha) but also heard all my favorites while letting my guests make recommendations as well. Loved all the music played."

"I’d rate them 5 out of 5. I’ll be using them again for birthdays!"

Questions and Answers

What 3 words best describe your work?

Fun. Personal. Committed.

Tell us about your company name.

We really just took Tony's nickname (Antonio McElroy → Tony Mac) and slapped 'Entertainment' at the end!

Why should someone hire you?

It is very important to us that our clients get exactly what they want and more. Because of this, we are very thorough and in-depth in our questioning and planning process to ensure that our clients' vision is understood and our expertise is shared. We value the relationships we build with our clients and go above & beyond to make sure their day is memorable :)

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

In college, my yoga instructor, Robert, began his own DJ/MC business and asked me if he'd be interested in helping setting up and breaking down for events. From there, Robert took me under his wing and taught, mentored, and trained me in DJing, MCing, and all things 'professional weddings'. After 8 years of being an apprentice, I felt ready to embark on my own. Jess has always wanted to work in the wedding industry since she was a child, and with our different strengths, we decided to team up and create Tony Mac Entertainment!

What are some sources of inspiration or influences on your work?

Listening to and watching other DJs and company owners such as Robert of Hilo Productions, DJ Wrex of Synergy Events, Mike Walker of Elite Entertainment, and Joe Bunn of Bunn DJ Company. Also, going to music shows and festivals helps inspire new ideas for production and mixing for our weddings.

Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:

Our favorite moment at a wedding was during the exchange of vows at our clients, Zenobia & Houston's wedding. Zenobia had prepared the most beautiful spoken word poem as her vows. It was so intellectual and emotional, all at the same time. She had everyone in attendance, even us, crying!

What makes a wedding memorable for you?

In working with our clients, we get to know each other on a more personal level and share things that we are excited for and stressed about. To see our clients make it to the day that they've been stressing about so much and to see them smile, laugh, and spend time with their family and friends with no stress truly makes a wedding memorable and continues to inspire us to do what we do.

What have weddings taught you?

Weddings have definitely taught Jess and I how to utilize each other's strengths to deliver the best service we can for our clients. They have also taught us that no one wedding is the same – there is always going to be something unique/different and that's perfectly normal.

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

Think about what's important to YOU! Planning a wedding will be stressful, tiring, and even confusing at times BUT trust in each other and in your vendors to help guide and support you in creating a wedding that highlights the values and aspects of yourselves that are most important for you to experience.

If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?

If I could have any superpower on the job, it would have to be the ability to speak ANY and ALL languages! It really bums us when we can't fulfill an MC desire outside of speaking English.

What are 3 words that describe your personality?

Intentional. Positive. Team-Player.

What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?

Nature is our favorite "work of art"!

What's your favorite quote?

"All you need is love."

What's your favorite marriage advice?

Make sure to make time to connect on a deeper level with your partner. :) The more, the better!

Extracurricular activities:

I also coach high school lacrosse and love going to music shows and festivals with Jess!

If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?

I actually double dip - Not only am I a DJ, but I also teach high school special ed and coach high school lacrosse! I would continue teaching and coaching.

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?

Jess and I like to spend quality time with each other by watching a show or movie on Netflix before heading to bed.

Tell us about your pets, if you have any.

We have a family dog named Jasper! He's a German Shepherd/Australian Cattle dog mix. He really fits the quote, "no thoughts, just vibes" and really loves butt scratchies! <3

What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?

Chipotle & Buon Gusto (in Huntington Beach).
