Services Offered
If you want a serious dance party at your wedding, look no further than Total DJ. They guarantee your dance floor will be packed. Their methodology is to dig deep to really get to know their client’s style and preferences. With that deeper level of knowledge about the couple and their guests, Total DJ is able to make the best music choices possible while reading the crowd. The result? They keep everyone on the dance floor til the reception shuts down.
Another key to their success is the laser-like focus on JUST DJ’ing the wedding. They say, “We don’t do lighting. We don’t produce slide shows, or capture video. We don’t do karaoke, school dances, or cardio time at the gym. We DJ weddings and we DJ them exceptionally well.”

Questions and Answers
What 3 words best describe your work?
Classy. Sophisticated. Stylish.Tell us about your company name.
The reason I named the company Total DJ was to brand my company with a simple, easy-to-remember name that encompassed what I try to provide to my clients—an experience where all of the sound expectations including microphones, announcements, music selection, timeline, and actually keeping people on the dance floor, are totally covered. Why should someone hire you?
What makes me unique as a wedding DJ is that I have experience managing events. Not only will I play the music and make sure the dance floor stays packed, I make sure that the day is stress-free for the bride and groom so that they can enjoy the celebration rather than worrying about managing the details of the event. What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
I really love music and have always wanted to DJ. I actually got started in 2009 when the housing market crashed. I was an advertising art director at an agency that primarily represented real estate companies. Consequently, I found myself out of a job, even though I have a master’s degree and a great portfolio. After that I decided that I needed an alternative career to fall back on. I went through a rigorous wedding DJ training course with one of the top DJ companies on the east coast and the rest is history.Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
This is a great question! There are so many. I love couples who are creative. One of my favorite moments was playing Chuck Berry’s, “Never Can Tell” while the bride and groom reenacted the Jack Rabbit Slim’s dance contest from Pulp Fiction. It may sound eccentric, but the bride and groom pulled it off with the utmost class and style and their guests loved it!What have weddings taught you?
Weddings have taught me so much! Where to begin? Always be early. Always be organized. Always be flexible. Always bring back-up equipment. Always be ready go the extra mile for your clients… should I go on?What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
I think the best advice is to be true to themselves and not try to please everyone else. I think guests respond much more favorably to a wedding that really compliments the style and personality of the couple. Weddings can seem obviously disingenuous when they don’t.If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?
The ability to coil wires faster. Tangled wires are a disaster so to keep them from getting tangled, cord management is essential. It is a little time consuming. Wait, did I just write a paragraph about cord management? I have been doing this for way too long. What are 3 words that describe your personality?
Smart. Fun. Organized. What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?
Lately I have been reading lots of Chuck Palahniuk. My favorite book, and possibly his most well known, is Fight Club. Additionally I liked The Alchemist, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, A Confederacy of Dunces, and Infinite Jest. Easily my favorite movie is Pulp Fiction, I know it's a little cliché for a guy to say they like Pulp Fiction but I can’t help it. As for works of art, I am a fan of modern non-representational art: Piet Mondrian, Frank Stella, Joan Miro, Mark Rothko, etc. What's your favorite quote?
"Be the change you want to see in the world." —Mahatma GhandiWhat's your favorite marriage advice?
After hearing hundreds of officiants say amazing and beautiful things at weddings my big takeaway is that mutual respect and genuine caring mixed with participation in helping their spouses reach for their hopes and dreams is what makes a relationship last.If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?
I would be a car designer. What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?
