Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review

Old World romance, rich history, and plenty of California charm are the hallmarks of this unique country club, nestled in a quiet valley of northern San Diego County. There are no "cookie cutter" weddings here—the staff delights in each couple's individual style and story, and is devoted to helping you use their uncommonly special spaces to create an event that feels exclusively "you".

You'll start your day in the exquisite Bridal Suite and Salon, where natural light streams through oversized, opulently draped windows, and two step-out balconies allow you to sneak a peek at the activities below. While you're prepping and making memories with your bridal party, the guys will be all set up in the Library, with its inviting club-style leather furniture, wood bar, and walls hung with antique maps.

The most extraordinary outdoor venue is referred to as "Provence Gardens" for the elaborate 18th-century French gates and pillars that mark its entrance. Along the garden's perimeter, you'll find viewing portals—stone half-walls and open window frames that hail from L'Orangerie in the south of France and date from the 1700s. The portals are favorite spots for photos, and add a pastoral, rustic feel to the space. Ceremonies are held beneath a wooden pergola with stone columns, and guests look on from a lawn area bordered by towering timbers. Not only do these stately sentinels create a striking effect, they've got a fascinating history, having been ordered in the 1780s by George Washington for the construction of naval ships. Graceful sails can be attached to the timbers to provide shade on sunny days.

Once you've said "I do", you can host an al fresco cocktail hour in the garden's Parkside setting, sheltered by mature native trees and lit by strings of market lights. You have the option to continue the evening here, or move to the expansive Driving Range, which accommodates large fêtes and can be tented if desired.

Indoor celebrations are held in the Mission Revival-style Clubhouse, which is reminiscent of a traditional Mediterranean abbey, with huge wood doors, soaring archways, and a pale stone exterior. The interior is just as stunning—the two-story ballroom is filled with incredible European-inspired details: an open-raftered ceiling, tiered wrought-iron candelabra chandeliers, delicate wall sconces, impressive tapestries, and an intricately carved wood fireplace that serves as a frame for your sweetheart table.

You'll have ultimate privacy at The Havens—only one wedding is held per day, and the areas you reserve will be closed to all club activities for the duration of your event. They also offer a huge array of enhancements to help personalize your party and round out your wedding weekend, including farm tables, antique furniture, golf outings, spa treatments from the pros at neighboring Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, and enticing late-night snacks. Warm, house-made mini donuts? Yes, please!
