Why We Like This Place

The road that leads to Saticoy Country Club gently winds its way up the hillside, and as you approach your destination you’re likely to pass acres of colorful foliage in full bloom.

Upon arrival, you may notice the faint aroma of strawberries, carried on a light sea breeze. A tranquil landscape of farmland spreads out below, with the Pacific coastline in the distance. As you take in the beauty of your surroundings, it’s easy to understand why the club’s founders chose this scenic spot.

The first country club in Ventura County, Saticoy opened in 1921 and over the ensuing decades has become a social center for distinguished residents and visiting celebrities. Given its illustrious pedigree, visitors are pleasantly surprised by Saticoy’s welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere—just one of the things that make it a standout venue for affordable weddings and events.

Arriving guests gather in the traditionally elegant Dining Room Foyer before being escorted to one of three ceremony sites. Intimate vows are celebrated on a garden lawn just below the Dining Room Terrace. A rose-petal aisle and floral arrangements to mark the altar are included with all ceremony packages. Larger groups convene on a neighboring knoll, which overlooks a picturesque pond and treelined fairways. A short walk away, the most popular ceremony site is poised on a bluff ringed by lofty hedges. Guests looking on from a lush lawn enjoy a spectacular panorama of miles of bountiful fields beneath a gorgeous sunset. On a clear day, the ocean view stretches all the way to the Channel Islands! Backdrops like all of these make Saticoy Country Club a truly lovely place for tying the knot.

As the newlyweds explore the grounds for photo ops, friends and family mingle on the Terrace, where lounge furniture and golf course vistas create a congenial social hour. Two adjustable monitors are often used to display slideshows of the bride and groom. When it’s time to dine, everyone steps inside the spacious Dining Room, which boasts a high, open-beamed ceiling and graceful chandeliers. A tulle-and-light canopy can be added for extra glamour, but a wall of windows that captures the setting sun and starry skies offers plenty of visual appeal. The head table gets prime placement in front of a huge picture window at the room’s far end, and a sizable dance floor encourages everyone to show off their best moves.

The cornerstone of the Club’s excellent reputation is its service-oriented philosophy. Food & Beverage Manager Alex Galaviz has worked here for over 20 years, and treats everyone as if they were guests in his own home. Known for his careful consideration of each couple’s particular wishes, Alex oversees your event from your first meeting through the big day. During your complimentary tasting, courtesy of the club’s award-winning chef, he’ll guide you towards menu selections and wine pairings that suit your palate and budget. Linens in a range of colors (satins, too!) are included with your booking, and Alex even provides a tablescape preview: “We want to make sure our couples get exactly what they’ve envisioned,” he says.

Such high-caliber service at a premier venue usually comes with a high price, but at Saticoy Country Club you’ll be delighted by the reasonable cost. And the personal attention and staff smiles are always on the house!
