Why We Like This Place

There are quite a few reasons why Shadelands Arts Center has become a local favorite. Not only is it a great value for those looking for an affordable event venue, it's also one of the largest facilities in the East Bay (accommodating up to 300!) where you can bring the caterer of your choice.

Another plus is the building itself, which is easy to work with thanks to its neutral décor. The white interior is amenable to virtually any kind of decorating, and the high, open-beamed ceiling—often draped for weddings—gives the space a lofty feeling.

State-of-the-art sound and lighting systems (and an AV staff person on site during your event) enable you to create whatever ambiance you like. Whether you're having a live band or planning to listen to your own playlist through your iPod, the music will sound great because the room was designed for music or theater performances and the acoustics are excellent. You can also entertain your guests with a slideshow or video on the large projection screen. Use lighting in a variety of colors to create a particular mood or to highlight the ceiling or dance floor. Add to all these features a gleaming hardwood floor and a full catering kitchen and you have an event site that will satisfy all your needs.

Shadelands is perfectly suited for large weddings, because the entire event can be held in the main hall. If you require more space, the hall opens onto an enclosed patio that can be used for a ceremony, cocktail party or additional reception seating. It works well as a place for supervised activities for children, too.

For corporate functions, Shadelands supplies most of the equipment required for presentations: an LCD projector (extra fee), large projection screen, sound and lighting equipment—and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The venue is also popular for fundraisers, as it provides different rooms for a silent auction and banking.

The center's staff are very accommodating, going out of their way to help you create the event you want while staying within your budget. And access to the fully equipped professional kitchen—with the option of bringing in your own caterer—are real benefits for couples planning a casual wedding or rehearsal dinner.

With its flexibility, ample parking and reasonable prices, Shadelands Arts Center is in demand. Its convenient location is also appreciated by guests coming from all over the Bay Area. If you want to host a wedding, private party or corporate event that's very much your own, this is definitely a location to consider.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Banquet Room holds 300 seated guests.

EVENT/RECEPTION CAPACITY: The Banquet Room can accommodate 300 seated at round tables.

MEETING CAPACITY: The Banquet Room seats 300 theater-style or 150 conference-style.

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is required to secure your date, and the balance and security deposit are due 90 days prior to the function. An additional $75 fee is charged if alcohol is served. The rental fee ranges $70–195/hour depending on the time frame of the event.
