Why We Like This Place

MacArthur Park has long been recognized for its classic American cuisine, but what many people don't know is that this award-winning Palo Alto restaurant is also a fabulous venue for special events—everything from engagement parties and rehearsal dinners to wedding receptions.

The historic building that houses MacArthur Park was designed in 1918 by renowned architect Julia Morgan (who later became famous for her architectural masterpiece, Hearst Castle). It originally served as a recreation facility where WWI troops would meet with their sweethearts and spouses, so it seems quite fitting that today it's popular for wedding celebrations.

MacArthur Park's simple yet elegant design is a fine example of Morgan's craftsman style, and showcases many beautiful period details. The main dining room has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood trusses and beams, and an enormous brick fireplace anchors each end of the space. Interior balconies provide additional dining areas and give guests a bird's-eye view of the festivities below. The décor is neutral and timeless: The room is painted in a rich, soothing shade of café au lait … dark brown wood chairs contrast with white linens … original framed artwork graces board and batten walls.

The very attractive private dining rooms are well-suited for more intimate events like rehearsal dinners and business meetings, and feature the same warm tones and wall treatments as the main dining room. Several sets of French windows are framed by long drapes that, when closed, filter the natural light flowing in, creating an almost ethereal effect.

For outdoor functions, take a peek at the enclosed courtyard, an aggregate patio set with white chairs and matching linen-covered tables. Striped fabric awnings shade guests from the sun, and heat lamps take the chill off during cooler months or evening affairs.

MacArthur Park's crowd-pleasing American menu options incorporate local, seasonal ingredients and can be customized for your wedding. And, of course, the venue's experienced and knowledgeable event team will do their best to ensure that you and your guests have a truly memorable experience.

CEREMONY CAPACITY: The Patio accommodates 100 seated or 150 standing; the Main Dining Room area, including lofts, holds up to 250 seated.

EVENT/RECEPTION & MEETING CAPACITY: The Main Dining Room seats up to 250 guests, with balconies. The patio courtyard holds 100 seated or 150 for a standing reception. Lofts hold 28 guests each. The Julia Morgan Room seats 40 and the Camp Fremont Room seats 24. The new Veteran Room holds 100 seated or 120 standing guests.

Cost: Prices, Deposits, Etc.

A deposit is required to secure your date. There is no fee to reserve the restaurant for a day event. Food service is provided. Seated functions, including food, beverages, tax and service charges, run $65–100/person. A food & beverage minimum will apply.
