Why We Like This Place

Dawn Ranch Lodge has been a favorite of vacationers since the early 1900s, when The San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad delivered guests right to the new resort's doorstep. The train station's long since gone, but people are still falling in love with this enchanting Guerneville getaway.

Tucked against the Russian River, the Lodge features clusters of sweet white cabins and cottages dotted throughout the towering redwoods, and the original buildings have been artfully updated with a thoughtful eye toward retaining their nostalgic charm.

Couples often kick off their wedding weekend with a meet-and-greet at The Boathouse. This historic, late 1800s building, with its inviting, rustic interior and adjacent lawn, is a popular spot for both welcome and after-parties. The area has been used for a variety of activities—games, shrimp broils, barbecues, and s'mores by the campfire following a float on the river. You might also gather guests for drinks and mingling around the pool; it's beautifully lit in the evening, and a band shell with an elevated deck can serve as a stage and dance floor, or be set with lounge furniture.

Rehearsal dinners are held in the original Lodge, whose warm wood dining room and bar are now home to the venue's restaurant, Agriculture Public House. Their innovative, comforting fare focuses on ingredients that are sustainable and locally sourced … in many cases, very locally, from the proprietor's ranch in Napa as well as right outside in Dawn Ranch's own kitchen garden. For an especially memorable treat, host your rehearsal dinner inside the gates of the garden, accompanied by the thriving plants that contributed to your meal.

You can exchange vows in The Meadow, with giant redwoods creating a breathtaking natural backdrop, or in The Orchard, where fruit and walnut trees provide seclusion and shade. Both areas will also accommodate either an open-air or tented reception, with a cocktail hour and lawn games on the nearby River Lawns. In the spring and summer, these spaces are alive with flowers and blooming trees, while autumn and winter bring striking color changes to the surrounding foliage.

Wedding packages are designed to give you privacy, flexibility, and plenty of time to enjoy the place. The "Ultimate Wedding Weekend" grants couples exclusive use of the grounds from Friday through Sunday, while the "Orchard Package", available May through October, offers a choice of a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday event. Both options guarantee enough cabins to house a large group, so you're able to make the most of your days at this timeless vintage treasure.
