Getting in Shape for Your Wedding: Bridal Boot Camp

Getting in Shape for Your Wedding: Bridal Boot Camp posted by Denise

I love boot camp workouts. You’re guided by a personal trainer who will push you to work harder for the results you want, you’re in a group of people with similar fitness goals, and many boot camps also include great nutrition advice. Having gone through a few boot camp sessions of my own, I can say with confidence that this kind of workout will definitely give you the energy and stamina you need to make it to the altar. I’m also seeing some great boot camps that are designed just for brides, with workouts to make you look fantastic in that strapless wedding gown you’ve had your eye on.

Wedding Organizers With Style

Wedding Organizers With Style posted by Lisa

As a bride, the motto “Be Prepared” takes on a whole different meaning than it had when your Scout leader coached you on the finer points of selling Girl Scout Cookies. But thank goodness, right? Turns out those who want to help you be a prepared bride have much better fashion sense, too. Look at Russell + Hazel’s new wedding organizer, for example. In addition to the several great binder styles to choose from, there’s also a whole slew of planning templates to get you started.

Eco-Conscious Honeymoons

Eco-Conscious Honeymoons posted by Jennifer

What do you do after your green wedding? Green honeymoon, of course. Love, Honor, Leave No Carbon Footprint from the New York Times talks about the popularity of eco-friendly honeymoons. The article discusses options like travel with volunteering opportunities, “wwoofing” (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms), travel to eco-destinations (some of which are quite luxurious) and of course (very green!) local honeymooning. California couples are especially fortunate in this regard, as there are many honeymoon destinations especially geared to the eco-traveler, such as the Historic Sand Rock Farm, Bear Flag Farm, or Shambhala Ranch.

Brides, Bling and Bellinis

Brides, Bling and Bellinis posted by Lisa

If you’re currently in the throes of putting together your San Diego wedding, consider stopping by a local bar Thursday evening for a little fun. While we at Here Comes The Guide definitely don’t advocate drinking while wedding planning (friends don’t let friends put down deposits while tipsy!), we thought you might be interested in a place that offers lots more than a stiff drink for the wedding weary: The Grand Opening of Bridal Bar’s newest location in La Jolla.

To Err is Human; To Tell the Story? Divine!

To Err is Human; To Tell the Story? Divine! posted by Lisa

If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you know that we like to discuss wedding issues by example: what we like, what’s worked for us, and once in a while, what not to do for your wedding (ever, ever again). We do it because all women have a story to tell, and we believe we learn as much from our own experiences as we do from the advice of our friends, women who’ve been there before. It’s only natural to want to add our own valuable voices to the mix. Fortunately, the highly opinionated women of Here Comes The Guide recently discovered a divine online forum with that goal in mind: Divine Caroline, that is.

Viva Victoria!

Viva Victoria! posted by Jolene

I admit it—at heart, I’m an old-fashioned girl. Add to that a hopeless romantic and a bit of an Anglophile, and it’s no wonder that I was a huge fan of the magazine classic, Victoria. Lest you cool chicks think that’s the sort of rag read only by grandmas, take note: Besides a healthy dose of lace and roses, Victoria also profiles chic boutiques, insider travel destinations (it’s never too early to fantasize about your honeymoon!), innovative recipes, and plenty of tips for creative entertaining. And as a bride, you’ll be doing plenty of that, girlfriend!

Thank Me For Coming to The Bridal Shower

Thank Me For Coming to The Bridal Shower posted by Lisa

I am utterly shocked. The second of today’s Dear Abby questions was from a Kansas woman who had just attended quite possibly the rudest bridal shower ever. After the gifts were opened, the guests were instructed to address, stamp, and write their own thank you notes. Once the guests properly congratulated themselves on the gifts they brought, all that was left for the bride to do was sign her name to the bottom of each card.
