Salty air and beach breezes call for a soft, relaxed wedding hairstyle that looks casual, yet polished. This romantic up-do is a particularly smart choice; what with ocean mist or humid conditions, who wants to struggle to maintain sleek, straight hair?
Catch the Wave
At the Model Bride Hair and Makeup Boutique, we demonstrated this style on our model Mara, whose hair has a bit of natural wave. Model Bride's stylists simply enhanced the look by curling Mara's hair with several different sized curling irons. If your own hair is straight, try spritzing each section with your favorite styling product before and after you curl it to help hold the ringlets in place.
Easy Does It
To create the updo, pull back the sides of your hair in tiny sections. Gently twist each piece and then pin into place with a bobby pin.
Next, twist and pin the hair in back into a loose bun. For that dreamy, tousled look, pull a few strands out around your face to add softness, and touch up with a curling iron as needed.
If you find the bun isn't as full as you'd like or your hair is not quite long enough, hair extensions are a great way to add body and length. Model Bride's Hair Extensions
can help you get this look—even if you don't have long hair! They're custom-dyed to match your own shade and can be worn again and again after the wedding.
Because we created this look for a beach wedding, we clipped the Soiree Silk Flower Clip
next to the bun in back. The sheer fabric with a bit of sparkle complements the ethereal style and adds a hint of tropical flair. For contrast, we finished Mara's look with dramatic Balihoo Crystal Chandelier Earrings
, whose crystals set in silver will catch the shimmer of a sunset off the water.
