Wedding Dress Donation
Let your bridesmaids know about The Princess Project, a 100% volunteer effort to provide free prom dresses and accessories to San Francisco Bay Area girls who could not otherwise afford them. While the Princess Project does not accept wedding dresses, they do accept other formal gowns. See their website for details.
Your wedding dress can be donated to “Brides Against Breast Cancer.” They sell quality gently worn bridal gowns and new wedding dresses donated by designers. Give them your own dress after the wedding (who really ever wears it again?) and you’ll help raise money for a worthy cause.
Other sites to consider: DonateMyDress.org, a national network listing local dress drive donations and www.donatemyweddingdress.org, which also lists donation opportunities for wedding dress donors across the country. Lisa explains what makes Donate My Dress great.
Another wonderful donation option is Brides for a Cause in Portland, OR. Even if you don’t live in the area, you can ship your donated bridal gown right to them! We really like their green wedding slogan: Reuse. Resell. Re-wear.
So go ahead and make a difference…one dress at a time!
